Yeah its honestly not a bad idea for getting chuds to take the damn shot. But also there are currently billions of people begging for the vaccine.

If you don't count tiny Gulf states that are really only one or two big cities or island nations where the rollout is obviously going to be easier once you actually have the vax in, the US is about fifth in vax rate right now.

It’s an easy policy to make fun of but it probably will work to save a lot of lives. It’s stupid that we have to do this, but whatever gets shots in arms I guess...

Getting a vaccine should allow you to legally steal valor. You've unironically done more for the US's safety than any troop :rat-salute:

? Canada is struggling 10x more to distribute vaccines than the USA, the only ppl in the US who are eligible and aren’t vaxxed are ppl choosing to not get vaccinated

the only ppl in the US who are eligible and aren’t vaxxed are ppl choosing to not get vaccinated

That's patently false comrade. As of a few weeks ago, ~30 million US adults want to get vaccinated, but have not managed to do so, more so than the number who do not want the vaccine.

Socioeconomic disparities in vaccination stem partly from the scarcity of supply in the first phases of the vaccine rollout, when Americans lacking the time or ability to scour the internet for appointments lost out: Counties that rank high in a C.D.C. index of “social vulnerability” had lower vaccination rates on average by early April, a New York Times analysis shows. But over the last month, even as supplies have exceeded demand, that disparity has grown.

As ever, the poor are fucked in America. The fact that I am privileged enough to have internet access, to be able to be flexible on booking an appointment, to have sick leave in case I have bad side effects, and just to have the time to scour multiple websites like I'm trying to get scalper tickets to a Coachella is a damning indictment of the distribution of vaccines in the US. It shouldn't come down to personal circumstance determining the practically of getting vaccinated. It's utterly pathetic as a means of enabling the most at risk to receive priority access to a vaccine. I had to drive 45 minutes to get mine and I live in a major metropolitan area ffs. Family in the UK on the other hand just received a phone call asking what time would be convenient in the next couple of weeks for them to get vaccinated at a nearby location.

Combination of a really bad nickel allergy (a lot of needles are made with nickel) and a severe phobia result in me generally passing out and stopping breathing. I had to have surgery a few years ago, and they had to anaesthetize me with gas before they could give me a topical anaesthetic and a bunch of antihistamines without freaking out so they could put in an IV with the intravenous anaesthetic so they could do the surgery. Three layers of anaesthesia.

That’s really unfortunate for you but really fascinating! Thanks for sharing that with us, I’d have never considered that some people have huge problems getting an injection.

Really hope they get a non-injectable vaccine available for you soon.

There's a lot of people out there that just don't want to get vaccinated, and it drives me batty as one of the few people that literally can't get vaccinated for just about anything. I got hospitalised after getting the HPV vaccine as a teen.

This is awesome. Hopefully once Covid vaccines start rolling out in places that are more difficult for field deployment of traditional vaccines, these will be available here too.

Lol, writing the number out does make me realize what a hopeless dream guaranteed income for the duration of the pandemic was. Could you imagine if there was a serious proposal to give every American $28,000? Every media outlet to the right of the Gray Zone would have a field day. The sky would be falling.

Okay, am I the only motherfucker living in the US who lives in a town where the vaccine is still limited to old people and essential workers? I feel like I'm losing my mind, I keep seeing people saying "get the vaccine", and I'm still like "When the fuck can I?"

I mean, i live in one of the reddest states in the union and you've been able to just drive into a city and get your choice of vax no questions asked for like 3 months now.
