Why are there so many fascists at my pro US imperialism demonstration?
:thonk:
If you’re protesting beside a bunch of fucking nazis you should probably take a minute to research what you’re protesting.
Assuming you yourself is not a fascist… admittedly that’s a pretty big assumption in this case.
Libs are so brainwormed they believe working with fascists somehow makes them more correct
For the well-being and empowerment of the current Cuban state, right?
...Right?
I'll never stop laughing at Latin American right-wingers who move to the US and are shocked that they're protesting alongside white supremacists.
Aren't a lot of Latin American right wingers who move to the US themselves white supremacists?
The answer is unquestionably yes. Racism in Latin America is far more vile than anything in the first world (I don’t know enough about Brazil, though). Caribbean is better than the rest of latin America when it comes to racism but it’s still pretty bad compared to even America.
This will be taken badly here, but I say this from my own experiences. Structural racism in LAM countries is fucking obscene,
From my own experience one of the most openly racist people I've ever met was an old Dominican man. He exclusively referred to Haitians as "human beasts"
Sample size of 1 I guess, and you could probably hear something similar in the US but still
I think people interested in left wing politics are at least vaguely aware that structural racism is a huge problem in latam politics. As far as I know politics in Bolivia and Venezuela are hugely racialized. At least the way the pink tide was sold to me was as a sort of indigenous reaction to a politics dominated by mostly white colonizers, maybe I misunderstood or was misinformed though.
It really is. There's a common saying that older generations use about "improving the race" by marrying white and having children with them. That's why I'm always a little surprised to see US latinos really playing up their indigenous ancestry. That would get you beat up in parts of Central America.
Yes, but there are some who aren't and are more of the neolib variety.
Latin American right-wingers are largely white, well maybe not to those other chuds.
White supremacists who aren't white will never not be fucking hilarious and infuriating to me.
Like the Hindu types who were pro-Israel because they were blowing up Palestinians (and then were shocked that the Israeli settlers were calling them 'mud people' and the like)
You'd think they'd fucking realize why so many "Trumpites" are anti-Cuba and realize, "Hey, maybe I'm wrong if I agree with these shitbags."
But no, instead they will decide to treat Trump supporters as less ridiculous and wrong.
Same thing they do when they find out anti-China rhetoric is being pushed by the right wing.
"Why is my Uyghur Lives Matter march filled with people who flip out over Black Lives Matter?"
Reminds me of my lib thoughts about the racism and trump supporters in the HK protests
Does make me wonder if this had happened a year ago if it'd be any clearer to them. Election cycle, Trump the embodiment of all evil, vote blue no matter who... and during the largest protest movement in us history, you're at another one alongside those same evil forces. Hmm.
Now I'm sure it's that lotr meme of "never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a _____"
You'd think this would get them to reconsider their positions, but they're liberals
