Was starting to feel like I might actually stay at my job for a while, then this week made me realize everyone there basically sees me as a full time intern. I'm resolving to apply to 20 jobs this weekend.
R-raeylwae stations? What are those?? I don't have any where I live. :shy:
I like NYC’s above ground subway platforms. Something really old world about them, and they’re all relevant lines to me so ¯\ _(ツ) _/¯
The 40th Street Station on the 7 line has these really wonderful stained glass windows all throughout the station that I just love.
I like stained glass, which my stations had them.
But they might renovate. Soon. Maybe.
Just means you’ll enjoy the second even more
:stalin-approval:
I think I was more because it was so big/ we only went on trains when going to the city so there were a ton of people and I was a kid so it was overwhelming. Now the public transportation where I live is terrible so I don't get to go on them often :(
I know jack shit about trains but I will always stan the Caracas Metro
One time I was trying to get somewhere on the north side of Chicago and I couldn't figure out how to transfer lines at this big, empty station underground in the middle of the night. The guy working the booth said he couldn't help me - until he noticed I had some smokes and I gave him one. Then he was thoroughly helpful and told me exactly where to go. I still missed the show I was trying to catch, but it was a fun night all in all and I like this story of giving a public servant a tiny bribe.
When I was little my parents took me and my sibling to this one place called casa de fruita that had a small train. We rode it and afterwards got some dried fruit snacks
I'm honestly a bit of a sucker for LA's Union Station but that's a bit of a homer pick for me.
I've never been but the Gare du Nord in Paris looks really nice.
The only true leftist answer is Komsomolskaya metro station in Moscow though.
Edit: other ones I've liked and been in are Grand Central in NYC, St. Pancras in London, and Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia Venice
My favorite railway station is the hop spot in Moncton. It's right next to downtown so waiting is breezy.
Great megathread. I've never heard of this and it's awesome.
My favorite railway is the one in all our hearts
I remember the Prague metro stations had some really awesome 1970's decorations when I was there as a tourist in the 1990's.
When I was a kid the train station in town had a really cool model railway in the foyer where all the trains would go round if you put a coin in a slot.
Had a moment where I realized all my friends are behind a computer screen and I'm reliant on a internet connection to having some from of a social life. I don't quite know how to feel about that.
"Foreign policy is too complicated for you to understand. That's why biden is justified in bombing whoever"
:maybe-later-kiddo:
what if instead of the megathread it was the megaread and we all read some fucking theory and stop being libs :soviet-huff:
What if instead of the megathread it was the meganthread and it was just for megan
i love it when a conversation with other leftists about organizing suddenly gets derailed into talking about fucking entertainment media
it's great
totally
we are fucking doomed
I swear to christ i have had more success getting apolitical lumpenproles to join orgs and actually do something than i have other communists
And it isn't even fucking closeI’ve been prompted to post my favorite rail line or else I’m a lib so uh… it’s not super clean or safe or efficient but I love my city’s subway. (Nice try agent) I wish they’d lay tracks everywhere and make it free :lets-fucking-go:
