Isn't that what the Nazis kinda did? They took out a fuckton of factory workers from the factories to serve in the eastern front with the assumption that in a few months they would be back and that turned out to be really bad for supply and logistics.

It sounds like a dragon ball z quote

"Frieza: Oh my. You are so naive. You know nothing of the pleasures of this universe. Any desire that you have could be instantly fulfilled. But have it your way. Die if you must. But allow me to let you in on a little secret.

      Goku: Huh? What's that?

Frieza: Well, I haven't even begun to use my real power yet.

Goku: Yeah well I have some reserved myself.

Frieza: Yes, I know. Five. Five times what you've displayed, ten at the very most. But I...I've only used one percent of my power." "

2,000 Americans? How terrible! If something were to cause the preventable deaths of 2,000 Americans, we ought to take it very seriously

Oh my. You Taliban are so naive. You know nothing of the pleasures of this universe. Any desire that you have could be instantly fulfilled. But have it your way. Die if you must. But allow me to let you in on a little secret: I haven't even begun to use my real power yet. You Taliban have maybe five times what you've displayed, ten at the very most. But I...I've not even used one percent of my true power.

If I'm reading it correctly, this is not the user in question, but the admin who blocked him from editing.

In ten years we're going to get an action movie where Chris Pratt or Office Jim get to go back to Afghanistan and make it so that we actually won

"Actually we didn't lose, and actually we won, because we could have done things differently where it caused us to win, and the fabrication of this hypothetical alternate world in my head means we actually did win!"

France could have withstood the German attack if it had put more anti-tank guns in the Ardennes, therefore France was never invaded and occupied by the Nazis

I once had someone show us his HOI4 game and "explain" ww2 to us, he said "well the Nazis would have one if they had just taken Sevastopol".

Like "oh really? why didnt they fucking try to do that then?" plus taking Crimea is not even that important in HOI4 in my experience. Not like the soviets got their aid through the Mediterranean anyways. In reality the Soviets lost Sevastopol so hmm what does that say about how militaries actually work?

The photos of Sevastopol's harbor afterwards are fucking horrifying

We're making 100% of Afghans fight the war (and counting them as combatants) so why not make it fair?

      • Utter_Karate [he/him, comrade/them]

This could be solved by having 100 % of Afghans move to Mexico. Mexicans could easily abandon all of Mexico to the Afghans considering the wealth of abandoned land and infrastructure just to their north.

This person is thinking of warfare in like pre-19th century terms. Because the US didn't lose any "home territory" or whatever then obviously it was just a stalemate. :cope: .

    • Sphere [he/him, they/them]
      ·

Even by the 19th century that kind of thinking was asinine. After all, by that logic, the US Revolutionary War was a stalemate.

The Taliban don't win until they build a modern amphibious landing force, load it up with men and materiel, sail it across the Pacific, and occupy parts of the western US. Until then, and only then, they haven't technically won.
