I immediately asked for a refund when it was clear he was capitulating and got a check for about a third of what I donated. It was totally worth it though for people to get a glimpse of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie crushing the immense popularity of even the mildest reform.

Went from "I want Socialism but I'm more than happy to settle for Social Democracy" to wanting to throw a copy of Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism into my past-self's face.

He sat and watched as they rigged their primary and lost the election to Trump because of it. They literally chose the only candidate that could lose to him. And he just smiled and endorsed Hillary. In 2020 they did it again and he handed the people's money over to the DNC.

At the official Democratic National Committee store at the 2016 Democratic convention in Philadelphia, the only piece of Bernie Sanders merchandise available was a t-shirt that depicted Senator Sanders in a racist manner. The caricature of his face is strongly reminiscent of Nazi propaganda which likened Jewish people to rats. "It is simply not fair to expect the College to continue to carry the burden of the expenses associated with housing both your population and ours."

-- Jane Sanders, after buying a property for her college that housed the infirm.

Bernie will be put in a cottage in the country where he can peacefully live out his days in awe of what was achieved, and regret that he contributed nothing towards it.

Real Kropotkin and Lenin convo in 1920 vibes.

Lenin: "Comrade, we need your advice on how to get the Workers Soviets to be disciplined in our fight against the Whites. The Czech legion is advancing on key positions and we must increase our infrastructure construction!"

Kroptkin: "Yes your revolution is very impressive, but look! France has some workers co-ops federating! I must focus my full attention on it!"

Putting forth the most milquetoast of milquetoast reforms only to be rejected by the ruling class and radicalizing his supporters is a contribution worth something. Of course, if said ruling class weren't so petty and short-sighted, they could have easily rallied behind Bernie, ridden the wave of (mild) social democracy and kept the whole thing going smoothly for at least a decade or two, thus defeating the entire purpose.

There are a lot of people who were part of the Bernie campaign, got distraught when we lost, and then descended into some weird entirely online nihilist fantasy politics that they’ve confused with being actually radicalized. That’s the only way you get to this debate in the first place.

Right, they think they're becoming more committed socialists as their views get weirder and more extreme or sectarian when it's actually a result of resigning themselves away from any real political project so they can just be idealists. To be fair there isn't any national leftist project in the US, so they don't have a highly visible IRL example to observe what organizing and mass politics entails.

But still, if you're posting shit like "comrades, when do we start the Ohio Bolshevik Party and murder the [insert some Ohio leftist party idk] revisionists? I have bought a 3 bullet revolver which hasn't been used since the war of the first coalition." what's going on?

I mean he will get the opportunity to defend himself in a tribunal for things like imperialism in Yugoslavia and other poor decisions. But he isn’t getting the wall immediately.

He won’t even be alive for a communist revolution honestly.

If I was in charge of his defense, if I'm arguing in front of a bunch of US-based commies, I would just make one point:

"Show of hands, how many of you probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his 2016 presidential campaign?". I imagine there would be a lot of hands raised.

Speaking for myself, I'm really disappointed in a lot of things about Bernie. Some past votes, some ways in how he handled himself in 2020, and how he's been pretty irrelevant since then. But in the big picture, these are pretty minor nitpicks versus what he contributed. His 2016 campaign really gave new energy to the left in the US. I wouldnt be here if it wasn't for him, and I bet that's true for a lot of us. I'll always be grateful to home for being an important waystation on my journey left.

I think he was an important part of a lot of peoples understanding of Us politics specifically. I’ll admit he got me active in his campaign and radicalized me once they fucked him. Part of the pipeline to communism for me sure.

I worry about people who stop there and don’t think more critically of the US and it’s politics. The succdems, the DSAers, dem soc, and stuff that doesn’t have a revolutionary aspect of it to dismantle capitalism.

My comment is more of a joke towards him, but still has some seriousness to politicians who actively are part of the bourgeoisie system.

I think he's already served his time with the live on TV cucking and constant attacks on him by liberals. If he makes it through the revolution, he should just get pulled aside, told he was wrong but well-intentioned, and them sent into retirement, with more than he ever hoped for having been achieved.
