ya yo ya yo
:pain: tfw someone know enough about the names of the characters but completely misses the point of the character.
Luffy is good-hearted, goofy idiot who does what he wants and goes where he pleases. When one of his comrades, a historian who studied forbidden history and was persecuted the world over from the age of eight, made the decision to leave the crew to protect them from her persecution, his crew waltzed right into a government building, fucked up everyone and everything in sight, burnt a flag for demonstrative purposes to convey the message that they did not care in the slightest to be persecuted and live as outlaws, freed their comrade, escaped the destruction of an entire island and then threw a giant party. Luffy will not leave behind any of his friends or principles for personal gain and does not give a single fuck about law (except Trafalgar Law), hierarchy, potential consequences or potential enemies he might make. If this sounds anything like California’s Top Cop to you, please elaborate it to me. They are literal opposites.
Saint Charlos is a noble who never in his life had any opposition to an action or thing he said and is part of the 20 families that own the entire planet. The Trump comparison is not completely out of place, but it could be substituted with any rich failson.
Also Saint Carlos is a literal slave owner and the World Government Luffy declares war is basically only around to protect people like Saint Carlos.
So Luffy is pretty based and :top-cop: isn't hope that clarifies things.
More serious answer
I'd say Luffy is a comrade and one piece understand politics well this the strongest people decide right or wrong in that world.
Kamala Harris is Scrooge McDuck, Trump is Flintheart Glomgold
Also can American liberals PLEASE stop pretending your horrible reptile politicians are hip and cool? I might be wrong here but the extent to which Yanks identify with these awful milquetoast political figures feels like an uniquely American phenomenon
I can understand why Che Guevara's face is worn on tshirts, but who the fuck :matt: faces over RGB or Kamala Harris
americans seem to indentify with biden more than kamala and it is probably because his life is suffering and he is falling apart
Whats the over under on this being even worse then Shyamalan's avatar?
Ah. Now that I think about it, Shyamalan's adaptation was egregious because the animated series already had clear pronunciations for character names.
All the fight scenes are people standing still slowly waving their arms around. And all sense of humor has been removed.
Even worse than that. I'm going to say it'll be on par with the Live Action Reboot from a few years ago.
This is horrifying. Did Oda sign off on this?
spoiler
Luffy has insane charisma and CoC Haki. Kamala could never. Luffy freed Trans people from prison, Kamala put them in prison. I'm at the time skip so no spoilers after this. Luffy also punched a world noble and sent terror down the ruling class.
Also lol at weebs saying One Piece isn't political.
The World Government's capital is The Holy Land Mary Geoise (Bourgeoisie) and they are opposed by revolutionaries whose leader (Monkey D. Dragon - who loves bocaditos which are Cuban sliders) captains a ship called the Wind Granma, named for the yacht used by Castro and Che during the Cuban Revolution (the Granma).
Kamala could never
I really hope Oda makes Dragon cool and not another corrupt revolutionary type
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
as someone into one piece enough to have a huge ass luffy tattoo on my arm, i am in shambles.
Pure agony
:yikes-1::yikes-2::yikes-2::yikes-2::yikes-2::yikes-2::yikes-2::yikes-3:
I know I should just ignore it and nobody will force me to watch it but why did they have to touch One Piece. Of all Mangas that aren't suited to live action, why would they pick my One Piece :hesitation-2: if they make Luffy into a radlib I'm gonna 9/11 the Netflix headquarters :hesitation-1:
A poll was issued to Japanese viewers of video distribution service 1Screen, asking what anime titles they wanted to see Hollywood adapt into live-action. The outstanding answer was “nothing.”
idk what they expected. literally zero live action anime adaptations have ever been successful, with the closest you could argue for being Edge of Tomorrow which was based on a manga but didn't really take much beyond the premise from it.
That's a pretty good way of completely missing the point of Luffy's character. Also, I'm still surprised that there are people who genuinely like Kamala Harris. I thought it was obvious that she's trying to capture the same energy of Obama and Hillary while failing at both, yet there are legitimate fans of her who think she's a role model.
I laughed when they adapted other animes thinking my favorite is too wild to get a live action version. I was wrong :agony-deep:
I wont mention mine for fear some monkey paw hidden away has it’s finger twitch.
