No, it was designed to take away May Day from American workers because of its communist origins

But also everyone loves a long weekend, so I'm not going to complain if people think they have a long weekend in September because of the commies.

Everything is symbols of symbols of symbols now. The holiday that was originally instituted as an anti-communist against the radical labor movement is now seen as a communist holiday. Because there is no more labor movement. It's a totally detached, floating signifier just like everything else. Nothing means anything, everything can be redefined. Labor has been defeated and now they are mocking us with its corpse.

May 1st is basically America's Tiananmen Square, but real. No one knows about Haymarket anymore and the day meant to honor the dead has been erased from history and replaced with a watered down version.

Just another battle in the War on a Labor Day. The radical right wants to destroy this sacred holiday.

Ha. In Arizona this shit is news. In Texas, it's just another Monday.

Idk. Had a conversation with a fellow Iowa teacher who was 100% deadass convinced the surface of the sun wasn't hot, it was the aura of the sun that was hot. Whatever the fuck an aura is.

That's where I first found this, but I didn't dare to read the thread.
