It's hard to think of another headline which could capture so succinctly the disaster of american capitalism. There are so many fucking layers to this, from the continued legality of slavery, to the white supremacy of the prison industry, to the erosion of public services under neoliberalism, to the advance of climate change, to the disastrous effect of "law and order politics" which has led to us keeping human beings stuffed in densely packed prison while a highly infections respiratory disease chokes them to death.
And WORST OF ALL, the supposed "resistance" party against the fascists is helmed by two people who have a DIRECT HAND in this taking place, Joe Biden whose 1994 crime bill extended penalties for nonviolent crimes, and Kamala Harris who made it possible to use prisoners as firefighters.
