Even though they come at it from the wrong principles, a lot of libertarians are pretty good on stopping imperialism. They don't care so much about oppression of other humans, just that tax dollars shouldn't be used for a military other than one that can just stick to defending national borders. Whatever, result is the same, it's the one good thing they're useful for.

Why the hell are we funding a defense system for a foreign country?

We can't even claim this is welfare for the war machine. Israel makes this themselves. Can we declare independence again?

Its going to pass anyways and she couldn't even be one of the 10 voting against? Real bravery there, I am sure the dead children will thank you for performing for a bit and then acquiescing to their killers for optics

She is trying to have it both ways by avoiding "aoc voted no on irondome" attacks from dems but crying to assuage her more "left" base

But of what use is keeping the seat if you aren’t going to do anything while you are in it?

They think being there to vote against hypothetically worse stuff from the GOP is "doing something".

honestly. they're still going to hate her for this. they're still going to treat her like an outsider. she has to establish a willingness to step out of line now or her whole career is gonna be this kind of shit.

She can have a lucrative lifelong career as a performative progressive doing exactly this kind of shit over and over again. She'll be useful to the bourgeoisie as a lightning rod for proletarian discontent, defusing attempts of socialist organising by bringing them into the democrat party to die.

In my AOC-fantasy mind-palace she's crying because she got a call threatening her family with bodily harm if she voted "No."

There's that narrative that every new President is shown classified info and the Alphabet Agency threatens them - this was converted into an "excuse for inaction" in Obama's case: I have heard people use this as an explanation as to why Obama was a neolib ghoul.

EDIT: As in "he couldn't dismatle the Bush II Admin's security state because they would have killed him." Honestly, it rings true, but Obama's poser Goth-Girl thristy-ness says otherwise (revealed in his biography). As in, he's always been an opportunist/realpolitik brain.

This might sound like tinfoil hat stuff but based on what I’ve read it seems like his mother may have been a CIA agent in Indonesia. If you dig into this a bit, you find some interesting info, like the fact that Obama’s mother worked for Tim Geithner’s father in the early 1980s under the Ford Foundation. If this is true, it means Obama was basically raised in the national security state.

Honestly, if ostensibly voting against your principles leads you to crying as you vote, idk maybe you should just go with your principles and deal with any blowback later?

AOC can have that House seat for life and there's nothing the DNC can do about it. She's a celeb now. Even if she did lose it, she's set. She can make a killing on The View or something. I genuinely understand feeling like you have to play ball with the party if for no reason other than they can make your time in Congress miserable. But jfc her foreign policy takes and votes especially are just so bad.

For years I've critically supported her, maybe I still do to an extent but it's getting harder every day.

AOC can have that House seat for life and there’s nothing the DNC can do about it.

They'll spend ten million an election primarying her, while stripping her of every useful aspect of holding a House seat. The New York leg gerrymander her district to shreds. Media will run smear campaigns night and day for years. Eventually, they make her so miserable that she either quits or fucks up and loses.

For years I’ve critically supported her, maybe I still do to an extent but it’s getting harder every day.

I think its easy to pretend "I'd be doing better". But look at our boy in Virginia, Lee Carter. Just about as good on every issue you could ask for... and they ground him down and out inside four years.

It's an ugly fight, even at the top.
