:jazz-ecstacy: :yes-hahaha-yes-l:
If it happens before Remembrance Sunday, it’s going to cause untold psychic damage to the Home Counties. I can’t wait.
Many years ago, I did some software contracting for the BBC and they had a project called “Big Red Button” for when they had to switch the website into a low bandwidth mode due to extreme traffic - the canonical example of which was the Queen’s death. Someone’s gonna have to press the button and I’m so jealous of them.
“Big Red Button”
Why isn't that already a tv comedy series? The first episode (a double episode?) could be God Save the Queen. I'm American so I can't think up the titles to more episodes. But it's a comedy and reality can be stretched so surely there's at least a solid first season worth of material.
E03 - Fool, Britannia!
Four abdications and 3 Epstein indictments create a crisis for the monarchy as the infeebled 3rd cousin of HRH becomes the head of state. BBC publishes official family tree diagram and fiber optic network crashes.
E04 - Keep Calm and Carry Yuan
Royal dunce, invokes bizarre constitutional privilege, dissolving the Bank of England and all British currency. Euroscepticism and irritation with American parodying of royal gaffes sends City of London headlong into China's sovereign currency. BBC publishes official photo of authentic notes to prevent counterfeiting, internet implodes as 73% of printers in UK try to spool from the same PDF.
She's been poking her nose in basically every bill for the past several decades so it'll do something to that wretched island.
I don't think a mean rich person looking at all the laws was helping anything
what do you mean giving the aristocracy the power to veto any law is undemocratic.
It's not really what she contributes, but the public response to Charles becoming king. It could (hopefully) be the end of the monarchy, which you know won't go well.
the end of the monarchy is unlikely and if it did happen it wouldn't be a bad thing
Of course it wouldn't be a bad thing, but it wouldn't go well either.
And I think you might be underestimating how much people hate Charles.
is he the one that uhh visited epstein's island or was that a different royal ghoul
Nah, that's Andrew, her next oldest son.
Of course they're all responsible for covering it up and helping him avoid punishment.
ive heard whispers of some commonwealth realms dropping the monarchy after liz croaks, heres hoping
The wide sentiment down here in Australia is that when she croaks we become a republic. To the point where the former leader of the moderate faction of our conservative party basically said that when he was in power. More than likely we have another referendum on the monarchy and I think its a 60/40 chance of passing.
All of that still sounds like stupid British royals spectacle. No amount of crabs is worth it.
Paddy Irishman went over to London to box the Queen into the mouth
He had a load of condoms filled with petrol And a sword made out of hash That he sellotaped to the steering wheel of his mother's face
He met the Queen in the car park of Buckingham Palace And he cleverly locked her into the boot of an Opel Corsa
In that boot She smeared the walls with shit And the Queen starved to death
And that's how the Irish Republic was wan!
Fun Fact , If the Queen Dies then all comedy in Britian is suspended for 12 Days ,...
Why ?
Because its going to be hilarious..
Will stand up comics be fined for naughty and disrespectful jokes?
Isn't the queen dying projected to cost terf island like millions of pounds because of how much of a spectle it will be?
Millions in direct cost, billions in indirect costs probably. It’s gonna break peoples brains: the last real, prominent remnant of Britain as a serious power, all that almost anyone knows of as a figurehead for the country. Someone that liberals could take comfort in when despairing about Boris or Brexit, and conversely, someone that Brexiteers view as the true leader of the country.
To be replaced with Charles, a man who is even more of a universal figure, in that absolutely everyone hates him. Commonwealth countries will rightly take this moment to eject the monarchy, exposing the pipe dream of a “global Britain” being built on the ashes of its empire as the absurdity that it is.
The U.K. will also lose its remaining social democratic institutions in the coming years (eg: the BBC and NHS), heightening the sense of, and material reality of, it’s collapse.
I think England (post Scottish independence) will handily beat the US to becoming an actual, full blown fascist state. Which is funny until you consider it’s going to be brutal for millions of poor people, and that government will have nuclear weapons.
disclaimer that i know fuckall about the royal family, but dudes only job his entire life was "waiting to be king", when push comes to shove he seems like the sort of person whose ego would struggle to give that up, especially when the whole reason for bypassing him is just that nobody fucking likes him
he would probably get pressured out but i could see there being drama and im :sicko-yes: for that
His lifelong pseudo-environmentalism will stop him abdicating, feeling the desperate need to “do something” about climate change.
To Play The King will then happen.
From a liberal perspective, they need to pass a law saying that upon her death the UK becomes a republic. Just avoid Charles altogether and go out with probably the most well liked monarch in British history (in spite of the truth about her and her family of course).
But we all know libs won't do what it takes to save their own system if it goes against their ideology.
It wouldn’t actually happen, but President Blair locked in a power struggle with Boris whole trying to make Britain look serious would be :chefs-kiss:
Oh shit oh fuck she will come back as a ghost to haunt black people and poors.
Tinfoil hat time: she’s been dead for days and they’re doing a weekend at Bernie’s while they figure out how to handle the catastrophic economic ramifications
SHE GOT KNOCKED DOWN, SHE WON'T GET UP AGAIN, WE'RE FOREVER GONNA KEEP HER DOWN
