A reporter discusses it...

There is a very real chance that the Supreme Court will soon prohibit the EPA from limiting greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. This is a horrifying grant.

To be clear: The Supreme Court may not only deny the EPA authority to regulate greenhouse gases from power plants, but also prohibit Congress from delegating that authority to the EPA in the first place.

I know that the democrats aren’t any better than conservatives and all that

The GOP justices gave the country and Biden the middle finger on the Texas anti-abortion law because they knew Biden would never pack the court. And now they're doing it again. And it's petrifying that they are just getting started.

If Biden packed the court - he'd put on justices who believed in science and the danger of climate change and dem spending on climate would be protected. Anyway - even if you (the person reading this) disagrees with me or says it doesn't matter much - this is an academic point. Biden will never do it.

Agreed, she knew damn well she was hoping that Hilary would get in and "TOTALLY PWN LE RED-NECK DRUMPFERS xDDDDDDDD". What's also funny is that RBG was known for a DISSENT, AKA LOSING. Liberals are fucking pathetic worms, and no wonder the GOP feel so high and mighty with weaklings like liberals as their "rivals".

But of course, remember this. Liberalism is bottoming but for politics. They want us to think dems are just these poor unfortuante souls that just can't catch a break because the GOP is popular among the "unwashmed masses" that don't recognize genius when they see it. In reality, it's a public S & M scene, but it's the public that REALLY gets fucked.

Horror-comedy - look at this shit about Gorsuch's mother...

    Anne Gorsuch Burford

    EPA Administrator

Gorsuch based her administration of the EPA on the New Federalism approach of downsizing federal agencies by delegating their functions and services to the individual states. She believed that the EPA was over-regulating business and that the agency was too large and not cost-effective.

During her 22 months as agency head, she cut the budget of the EPA by 22%, reduced the number of cases filed against polluters, relaxed Clean Air Act regulations, and facilitated the spraying of restricted-use pesticides. She cut the total number of agency employees, and hired staff from the industries they were supposed to be regulating.

Environmentalists contended that her policies were designed to placate polluters, and accused her of trying to dismantle the agency.

Good thing the democrats used their control of the executive and legislative branches of the federal government to prevent this from happening.

Having the power to stop something and choosing to allow it to happen anyway is just cowardly way to support it.

Everything terrible that happens because of this supreme court is something Joe Biden supports and approves of.

The dems have until December 10th to kill the filibuster (or make a moronic carve out in it) to protect voting. That's the last day congress is in session this year. It's 42 days away. And - of course - congress has lots of vacation days before that. Each day we get closer to that day - I become more convinced Biden and the democrats will not do a fucking thing on a federal level to protect voting and to protect our electoral system. Right now I give it a ~1/1,000 chance the dems will take action. That might be insanely optimistic. Two weeks from now - a 1/10,000 chance. Four weeks from now - my guess will be effectively zero.

If the dems don't protect voting - it won't only be the GOP justices on the supreme court attacking everything the GOP doesn't like. It will be the entire right-wing as the GOP starts to take a stranglehold on the red state voting and federal elections in those states. Other GOP will join in: the federal GOP judges, the GOP judges on state courts, the GOP statehouses and the likely the GOP president and the GOP congress taking a chainsaw to all "democrat" related spending and laws that do stuff like regulate the amount of pollution in the air and how much arsenic should be allowed in canned food.

I'm not a lawyer and I have no idea what what they can do legally. But that hardly matters. They'll totally control everything so they'll simply change the laws or sort of ignore them to drown the federal government in a bathtub. And they'll gleefully do that in the states they control too.

The future looks black as night to me. Yet Biden and the DC dem's plan is that the public can "out organize" the GOP's corruption and criminality.

Biden and the DC democrats seem wholly disconnected from reality. I think this year they will set a record for absolute worst year of political failures in American history.

Texas became a Handmaid state where women have no reproductive rights. The dems have done nothing on a federal level. Apparently - they will do nothing.

425 voter suppression bills were introduced in 49 state legislatures over the last year. 33 have been enacted in 19 states.

And I assume that 100% (or nearly 100%) of the bills are GOP bills. And 425 is the recent number. Every few weeks it goes up more. The dems have done nothing on a federal level. Apparently - they will do nothing.

And there's the terrible Build Back Better bill. It was $6T then 3.5 then 1.75 and - who knows - next week it might be ~$1.2.

I think so far we've said goodbye to:

          • paid family leave
          • tuition-free community college
          • meaningful climate provisions
          • expanded Medicare eligibility + vision/hearing/dental
          • prescription drug price controls
          • universal non-means-tested child care + tax credit
          • billionaire tax

              reducing labour protections for children

              That's so nasty.

to wait workers demanding higher pay out

And the dems pretend they are the "workers" party. Biden's advisors are ghouls. I posted about it...

Serious question so when the world is burning and shit is falling apart due to climate change. What exactly do these people, that are doing nothing while being in positions of power think nothing will happen to them? Because I would be first one in GTA to go for the head as the world burns around me. Am I wrong into thinking this as my future gets fucked?

I think the vast majority of the right-wing has gone insane. This includes the smart ones - so to speak. But the fundie GOP justices have children and grandchildren which they portend to love. I think they believe in one of the following...

      1. Climate change isn't really that much of a big deal.

      2. Technology will solve the problem without too much bother.

      3. God will solve their problem. The Rapture will come and all good Christians (including them of course) will be spirited away to heaven.

I have to believe that at some fundamental level - they do think climate change could be catastrophic. I could be totally wrong. Maybe one or two of them isn't worried at all. But I think choices two and three are far more likely. That they could believe in a quickie tech solution is scary. But if they really think they'll be spirited away - we are way beyond fucked.

They’ll have other ideological / resource traps to encourage cooperation and loyalty among a certain % of the populations. It will be enough to hold the masses at bay, until they pass. Power insulates them from suffering, and they award power to their armies of soldiers to continue the hegemony.
