I've said before but the irony with that sub is that despite being named after a specific ideology it's woefully ideologically incoherent and mostly full of confused wannabe New Deal coalition liberals, when certain users post actual neoliberal takes they tend to be unpopular with the sub's population at large.

There's only really three things that unite the people there: being mindless Democratic partisans, essentially defining their liberalism as "I support all the good things", and rabidly hating anything remotely associated with the online "left"

Really enjoyed the "Why No Nuclear in GND?!!!!" freak outs. Fuckers over there looooove nuclear energy. But they also love free market solutions to energy problems.

Asking how you build a nuclear power plant without federal subsidies always gets a mix of "Muh Regulations!", "New Technology any minute now!", and "Shut up Leftist!"

They'd unironically blame zoning laws for the lack of privately-owned nuclear power plants

Ah yes, that thing that studies have shown has no actual effect on school violence. Of course.

This is what uncritically consuming mainstream media does to a mfer.

It's ridiculous but it's also grasping at something I think is true, which is that the American people by and large are reactionary and fear any disruption of the institutions they've normalized as part of life. Like cops.

Attacks on the bedrock of people's conception of the world is bound to produce reaction if there are no alternative institutions is place to counter it. So best to start making those, I think.

any progressive that is not a complete cuck will blame these neo-libs right back by saying “this is what happens when Dems don’t deliver on their promises to make people’s lives better”

    it’s really not that hard.

They just ignore it and blame progressives anyway. There is no getting through. We need to stop wasting time arguing with the hard liners and just let them fail. Outside of violent revolution, we are going to keep heading rightward til we are all nuked by climate change.

You see, if the progressives bend over for the 67th time, the Dems could pass some watered-down infrastructure legislation that would instantly bring jobs and benefits and good stuff and earn votes! Therefore, anything bad that happens to the Dems somewhere is on them.

Yes, this is the actual talking point they're trying to push.

If I were to take that at face value, the takeaway would still be that it's perpetuate baby's first election, and nobody has been paying attention or they are all just young and inexperienced.

We all know that's not what's happening though, or Dems wouldn't have such close margins every time

I saw someone on Reddit argue that it WOD be a bad thing if the Democrats fell in line like Republicans or if Joe Biden used the bully pulpit. It's too close to orange man for them.

This person's thoughts on politics center around very granular school issues. I'm thinking that's a kid who posted that.

After COVID completely fucked the public school system, kids are flunking standardized tests in record numbers. This is going to be the wedge that finally topples public education, without a doubt.
