One Person Band, but not like bedroom producer shit, I mean the kind you play with gizmos and flywheel contraptions and pulleys and shit
I was afraid it was going to be Author and Punisher and I was going to be sad
that guy could stand to use more slide whistles and toe cymbals honestly
Oh my god it's a real thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7f9xTPI9eo
we don't have enough contraptions in modern day life
I could have been a happy professional contraption operator
Might be metal. Most modern metal has a kind of kayfabe attached to it where the over the top nature of it is kind of… ironic? I dunno, feels like there’s something there.
I agree, it’s metal because of the kayfabe. And it gets even funnier when you think about all the metal purists who take it super seriously and try to gatekeep it
I enjoy the kayefabe part of metal so the gatekeepers always amuse the hell out of me. Like, some dude goes on stage dressed in studded leather and corpsepaint singing about Satan fucking Jesus with a crucifix and then he goes home and tucks his kids into bed and posts pictures of taking his dog on walkies.
Nothing like listening to a symphonic metal band shred while singing about swords and sorcery in a heavy Italian accent

edit: I accidentally a whole metal
it's country rap. second place goes to lounge crooners like sinatra and dean martin.
Folk Punk. Not that I think the genre itself is funny, but I swear every band comes out with a “funny” song and it’s fantastic.
Swing revival and electro swing
not so much haha funny, more why tf does this exist
I came here to say this but I actually find it kinda haha funny, especially knowing that electroswing was one of the whitest genres in existence when we were in that boom ten years ago.
I'm ashamed to admit I enjoyed dancing to it when I was a teen 🫣
Yeah being serious, there are very few genres that have songs that I find funny and Ska has a disproportionate amount of them.
Worked with a guy who played nothing but Richard Cheese when he got Bluetooth, it was so brutal.
I miss that guy though. Greatest chef ever
All of it! But to answer the original question, I think Gabber is the funniest.
Gabber maybe around the millennial hardcore era was probably the zaniest. It's hard for me to go back to it and be like "I listened to this?"
Industrial Strength was on repeat for a lot of my high school days tho. I was a poor so I only had like 3 cd mixes in my collection
It really is zany. I never listened to a bunch of it on my own, but you’d better believe I never missed a Gabber set at a festival.
I was lucky to be at music-pirating-age very young, what with Napster, then Kazaa, Limewire, Morpheus, BearShare, SLSK… so I was fortuitous to have many music.
Off topic, but looking back on the sub this thread is in, I should probably find out what chapo is. I’m a c/all browser and I’ve only really heard about chapo on HBomberGuy’s nightmare DK trans charity stream, and Cumtown.
Long story short but this instance is the users from chapotraphouse from reddit. That subreddit got nuked by the admins for being based. They are named after the podcast with the same name. It's a leftist space and full of cool people.
Also I was doing the pirate thing back then too but didn't know any DJs to look up and didn't really know any outside of Omar Santana, Delta-9, Rob Geee, and Neophyte back then.
Damn, too many casualties.
SPACEDICKS (rip I_RAPE_CATS), WPD, NSFL, Cumtown, Chapo, now eyeblech…
Both the main instances I hang out on on Lemmy came from subreddits that got shutdown actually. Lemmygrad is where GenZdong ended up.
I was hanging out in /r/lsc mostly when they got shut down so wasn't really familiar with the lore but stumbled across Lemmygrad because people were bitching about "tankies" and figured I needed to make an account. Made one here after Hexbear federated and been mostly here since.
I don’t understand hexbear or Chapo, to be honest.
All I knows is, some of their values hold very dear to some of mine.
I don’t even know what “liberal” means anymore though, so I don’t understand the liberal hate? But I don’t politic very well, which means I probably don’t fit in there that well. I could learn, but I’m just too… tired.
Hexbear is just a leftist Lemmy group.
The way that Hexbear and Lemmygrad use "liberal" is in the traditional political and economic sense. A liberal is someone that supports a Capitalist system.
This is different from US politics where a liberal is a Democrat and a conservative is a Republican(for the most part). This is a more modern definition and it makes sense that it can get confusing. I try to check myself with who I am talking with regarding how I use it.
If you see value overlap, I might suggest reading up on some theory(if you love reading some dry, sometimes boring stuff written 100 years ago) to see what all you might agree with regarding socialism and communism. My main 3 books I recommend to anyone that sounds interested in learning is Principles of Communism bu Friedrich Engels, State and Revolution by Lenin, and Blackshirts and Reds by Micheal Parenti.
I had a similar "well I actually agree with this" moment a lot on reddit and finally decided to figure out what my world view is a few years ago so I get what you are saying. I even just now saw some infighting over on /r/lsc with a user confused by another user calling Bernie Sanders a lib.
