She qualified it with 'public'. Wonder if they got into it b/c of Virgil's disappearance. This episode of Real Podcasters of Brooklyn is wild.

Felix has some good takes on foreign policy (that said, takes aren't politics). For example:

"I see all these debates over whether China is communist or not, whether they’re the fucking Third Reich or something ridiculous, or they’re the saviors of humanity. They all miss this very basic fact: China overcoming mass poverty on a scale we’ve never seen, China modernizing on the timeline and scale that it has, is the only generational human accomplishment of the last 30 years. That’s it. That’s the only thing anyone actually remembers in one thousand years if we’re still here.

They’re the only nation that has done anything at all. The United States, European Union, India, no one has any equivalent accomplishments. Oh, uninterrupted peace in Europe? Shut up! No one gives a fuck! You’d have to dig deep for something one one-hundredth as impressive.

In America, though, you never hear about it."

Matt's the only person who's had a real job for an extended period of time, no wonder why he's the least sick

Felix was a bouncer for awhile but even then he's by far the youngest and grew up in a wealthy family, and Will's someone I'll never really trust even if he's pretty decent on the show

I was never a religious listener to the show and haven't listened in about a year and a half now, but back when I did I always felt like Will just had the least to say. About anything, including politics. Except movies or Twitter weirdos or funny actors. It kinda felt like he was just there to hangout with his cooler friends. But I guess that doesn't actually say anything about his politics, maybe he's just not good on radio? Or maybe Will is good but I've got some sort of anti-Will bias and I've blocked out anything good he might have said?

I get the impression that the only reason Steven Donziger's Chevron corruption case was promoted on the show was because of Will, could be wrong. Still can't understand why the media class refused to cover that case.

Will was working for a publisher (not sure if it was the same his dad worked for), before they started Chapo. He had the roledex of authors and media connections that let him get some big early guests. He also seemed to be the one bankrolling and doing the business/legal stuff for the podcast. At one point Chapo, or Will personally, was sued by someone. They never mentioned it on the podcast until the case was over and Will won. It was probably libel/defamation since they used to end the show by threatening violence to various political and media figures.

As for takesmithing, Will just grabs stuff from Twitter. There was a time when, if you followed all the Chapos and people they follow, you could see the weekly episode content in their likes/posts/replies. He just cribs other people's takes. It's smart because it's very hard to have great takes all the time and using twitter to essentially crowd source it saves time and probably helps generate better ideas. But the downside is that Will sometimes straight up plagiarizes shit off the internet like it's his own idea. I've even seen him repeat stuff we all concluded here on this site because the internet moves faster than a bi-weekly podcast recording. Not saying that he browses here, just that the online left space is insular enough that takes get around pretty quickly and easily. And it's also important to note what the Chapos do isn't particularly difficult or unique. It's mostly being well-read and paying attention to stuff.

Will is important because it's clear he probably has the best politics and most academic/activist connections outside of Amber, but he is smart enough to keep his mouth shut about it because of his family history. He is also the glue that keeps things together (aside from Chris, who is the secret best dude), Without Will the podcast absolutely would have broken up by now.

Just thinking about it, but the people I've known most likely to have a phone shitty enough as to not be able to access this website are the last ancient members of the Silent Generation who all have prepaid phones.

Though I've known plenty of boomers who do have new phones but don't seem to have the faintest idea how to use them. Like, people who straight up don't know how to operate the Safari browser on their Iphone 12s or whatever the newest model is. Though they'll usually have Facebook Messenger or something like that.

I think BJG is a uniquely tragic figure in American politics currently, in a way that nobody can really match

you genuinely believe in radical politics, put your eggs in the wrong basket (Bernie Panders) and cement your career as the "succdem" dude. No matter what she does or what she wants to tell her listeners, to get her guests of three-letter-word agency approved guests, she needs to have some sort of public investment in a ritual that anyone who isn't a fucking dipshit would have checked out from election night 2020. She knows enough about how the sausage is made that what she posts and her podcast are basically fucking worthless, but there isn't a viable alternative for her. Either she does what she is currently and writes her name in The Book of the Dead, communicating in ways exclusive to the sickos that I genuinely believe she hates, or she points out that this communication and subculture she's a figurehead of is as thin as drywall, and gets to work as an Walmart assistant manager until her body returns to the clay.

She still deserves her scorn. I still just find it hard not to have some level of pity.

Is there another option for her and podcasters like her? I'm including Matt in that btw. The vlogs were important, still are, but most important are the admissions that he'll basically do anything to avoid real work again. Like probably take thiel money lol.

What's wrong with actually doing some work, so that you're feeling what people feel in the real world and not always calling your audience "they", and podcasting a couple of hours a week around that? The whole point of podcasting and the DIY tech around it is that you don't need the expensive media infrastructure. You can podcast around your work with just a mike.

If you're so big on electoralism why didn't the comms person for Bernie campaign work on some local campaign and podcast from the coffee room or whatever. India Walton or literally any other candiate on the left could have used her surely.

I mean, even some kind of make work job for a couple of days a week, so they don't totally lose touch with people, should be a condition of being a left podcaster.

edit: I do have sympathy for BJG. The right hate her, the khive/hilarystan/democrats hate her more, and here we are criticizing.

Now that I'm on break I'll effortpost a little: 'breadtube' just meant better youtube back in like 2017-2018 when a handful of leftish and lib youtubers became friends and cooperated in making leftish content which considering how much of a reactionary cesspool youtube is now it was a godsend back then when there just was no challenge, any chud with a chip on their shoulder could make 6 hour videos slagging the gays and get millions of views.

"Breadtube" kinda only means like a half dozen youtubers most of which don't even like that label because it implied their loose group of friends was a political movement when it wasn't really, it was the CHAZ of youtube, and now any Tom Dick and Suzy can make their own little leftist theory channel and become a breadtuber. I would specifically exclude people who don't use youtube as a medium like Vaush or Xenderhal or even Hasan.

Now we have all kinds of radlibs calling people who don't even youtube like Matt Christman and BJG as breadtubers so it's just lost all meaning.

This is tangential, but lmao. r/blackfaithfeed, the pirate sub for her podcast, stopped dropping episodes two months ago. Then a week ago she makes the first new posts on there since then with the same clips and videos she puts up on twitter. Then she straight starts getting into the mud with people in the comments. So, guess we figured out what happened to the pirate feed [see below] and also: Bri, what on Earth are you doing? Fucking relax.

Actually, as the guy who created and runs r/blackfaithfeed, she didn't take any action. She's actually been really cool about me posting the pirate feed.

I just stopped posting them because I stopped listening to the pod and left the Patreon, and the comment sections were rarely discussing the episodes anymore.

Brie's been an approved poster there for almost a year, she could always post whatever she wanted. She can't remove posts though.

One Twitter account accused him of grooming them around 2013 when the victim was underage, after which Virgil dropped off the face of the Internet (again). Virgil never responded, the tweets were deleted and no follow-up was posted so who knows

Disappearing and leaving the co-host of the podcast you just started (after you got kinda sorta kicked off from your old one) to deal with the stench of pedophilia accusations hanging in the air is certainly a move though

[CW:POINTLESS PARASOCIAL THEORISING ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PODCAST HOSTS] As you may remember, the Chapo guys were pretty heavily invested in Bernie 2020: The Squeakquel and didn't take his loss too well; Matt retreated into :grillman: livestreams from his backyard and Virgil just fucking disappeared. From some of the hosts' comments when asked about Virgil's whereabouts during this period you could sense that they didn't really know what was going on with him either and that they were somewhat annoyed. Eventually, Virgil returned after several months but [THE FOLLOWING IS JUST MY OWN OPINION] the chemistry between him and the rest of the hosts seemed a bit off.

As early 2021 went on, he showed up less and less on Chapo and started Bad Faith with BJG, which was completely ignored by the Chapos (contrast this with how they've treated ex-producer Brendan and his Blowback pod). After Bad Faith started, he stopped appearing on Chapo altogether and after a couple of months, Chapo Trap House and Virgil publicly announced their amicable separation. On the Chapos' part, this was relegated to a text post on their Patreon with no mention of Virgil on air. My pointless speculation is that Virgil's first disappearing act kinda damaged the relationship between the hosts and it never recovered

That part isn't true, one of the chapo episodes opened with them saying Virgil is gone on good terms and stuff. Obviously I don't know anything about what happened behind the scenes, but they did mention him leaving and they did say it was, as you put it, amicable separation.

Personally, the fact that the accuser name dropped their exclusive interview in The Daily Caller and was flooded with shares from nazis for the first couple hours has never sat well. But Virgil never responded and for all intents and purposes is gone from public life. I hope that if the accuser is genuine and simply got coopted by the right, that she sees some sort of justice beyond just humiliating the guy.

The first Twitter account that followed and was followed by the JenniferSeaberg Twitter account was a trolly edgelord who made lots of grooming jokes.

When some l33t h4xxor attempted a password recovery on said edgelord's Twitter account, it turned out that it's password recovery email was j*************g@gmail.com, which when you fill in the blank is JenniferSeaberg, aka the username of the acct who made the accusations.

In other words, it was fake.

I wish i could show you that other twitter account (It’s deleted now i think) but if you could see it, they were a 4chan memelord who presented as male. The sort of shy and respectful tone of the JS account was a stark contrast. And meanwhile the other account continued to blast edgy humor and behave like nothing was wrong.

So I guess its technically not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Oh, also, the original allegations got posted to the cumtown fakereddit before they got any traction on twitter, and that board is always talking about plans to cook up fake allegations and stuff (pretty sure the fake accusation against our mod originated there)
