Lmao Space Force is so cringe.

It's cute that capitalism thinks it's going to be able to achieve any kind of force in space. Um, no buddy, you're not getting there with your piss-leaking shuttles made by private companies that prioritize cutting corners in a field that has zero room for doing shit half-assed.

    Literal child brains.

Imagine telling someone you're a member of the US Space Force. Like every other branch of the US military at least has some sort of, like, cool propaganda you can point to. Look, cool airplanes, look cool car, look how good we are at guns. If you're in the Space Force surely you just get laughed out of the room even by libs? Like surely you gotta hide that shit

They almost copied this uniform from the Honorverse, how they could even be this cringe and not combust like their shuttles?

        Show

EDIT: It's actually much worse, RMN from Honorverse at least wear normal looking berets, but look at this fucking cap here

The space force will have a floating moon like commands that will not only patroll other nations space buisness, but shoot nukes / Rods from God at any city not in the good graces of the Empire.

Goes to the local troop bar

Gets asked what branch they're in

      They reply "US SF"

Look of surprise at the bar "Oh! You don't look like the Delta Force type"

They respond "Oh... oh no. United States Space Force, not Special Forces. But hey, what's more special that space, huh?"

They're laughed out of the bar

Literally the most useful part of the military. At least they help people on occasion.

You could say that about any branch of the military. Army's got a corps of engineers for disaster relief when theyre not trying catch airtime with their equipment, navy and coast guard can do rescue at sea or whatever puddle pirates do, marines can stay on navy boats, keep to themselves, and not interact with any local population, and the chairforce has PJs to rescue rich dipshits off of mountains.

They're the equivalent of the Soviet Air Defence/Missile force and having your hand on the doomsday key is cool, but no they have to lean into being fucking nerds.

I'm pretty sure the Air Force already does that. They just took an existing department within an existing branch and advertise it as a new branch when it's just a subsidiary lol

The Soviets/Russians have integrated/disintegrated it with the air force several times because like you said it's a bit lame sounding, but there is something to grouping Space, Strategic Missile Strike/Defense, and your HAAD/ASAT assets together.

Remember everyone laughing at trump after this and now it's just a part of the military? Absolutely nobody committed. The talking heads and PMC just used it as a jab, supposedly recognizing it was ridiculous, then lined right up behind it.

Looks like an ad for a video game. That's deliberate, isn't it? They're hoping to recruit kids for this by connecting it to Starfield or something like they did with Call Of Duty before this.

Yes. They've been working with Microsoft to create a new generation HUD/night vision goggle. One of the commanders explicitly said that the new generation of children are used to playing video games that give them a lot of information about their environment and equipment, so the military's modern equipment need to have that available in order to ensure a smooth transition from civilian to soldier.

The rest of the ad was just like people and stuff so not really applicable to this ad from what I recall.

Following the end of the Trump administration and the Biden administration's announcement that they were not reevaluating its establishment, less critical and more analytical coverage of the Space Force has arisen. High-ranking military officers and commentators interviewed by Politico in a February 2021 article agreed that President Trump's influence and image were in part the cause for the negative reception of the Space Force, and that improving its public image would take time.

Really cool that liberals and the media concluded that the SF was a useless joke because Brumpf Cheeto was in office. Then immediately after he left, they concluded that it was a super duper serious and necessary addition to the military and if you laugh at it then you're a kremlin bot.

I love how the US government has just followed through on Trump's smooth brain idea like "welp, boss said we're doing it so let's get to it". It's like silicon valley tech bro startup psychosis has seaped into everyone's head. A decade or so from now people will be looking at this as the military equivalent of the Juicero.

Biden didn’t undo anything Trump did. Not even the easy stuff like taking Cuba off the state sponsors of terrorism list. It’s been 3 years now, and not once have I heard even a peep from the democrats about undoing even just a part of Trump’s massive tax cut giveaway to corporations and the rich.

Not that anyone here is surprised, though.

Somebody in that admin had one comment that really was the foundational bedrock for everything Biden has done:

      Nothing will fundamentally change.

Once again, the most evil nation to have ever existed reverses course and instead of making space peaceful, decides to militarize it, breaking the U.N. treaty they had previously signed which called for not weaponizing space.

It doesn't surprise me, there was a time when Nazis and the Soviet Union were a legitimate existential threat and the US had to act like they were decent, those days are unfortunately, long passed.
