yes yes i get it electoralism doesn't work. but having multiple political viable parties is better than just having these two shitty parties.

On one hand I want the libs to cry for the next four years. On the other hand I have a Covid denying trump supporting friend who i know would lose his shit if trump loses. His mom has lupus so maybe her dying of Covid will change him but I doubt it

God I want Trump to lose so bad.

I just don’t want Biden to win.

I live in Texas, though, so fuck it I’m going Howie.

I live in OK and I feel the same way. Shits fucked all around and I know no matter which way it goes I'll be amused. I do think trump losing will be overall more entertaining.

Trump losing would be marginally better because we would get a river of chud tears on top of maybe not having to deal with outright fascism for a few years.

But god would the liberals be so smug and insufferable.

I legit think a bunch of chuds will take up arms if trump loses which will further the death of America so I'm all for it. Not enough to vote for a rapist, imperialist, neolib tho

My government teacher taught us that Thr 3rd party purpose is to send a message to the major parties so they can shift their platforms to reach dissatisfied voters if there’s an increase.

Hahahahaha why did I believe he

Lol didn't Ralph Nader basically say that too. There's not much else you can even imagine a third party achieving in a two-party system.

I feel like if we can just get on the news and let people know these parties exist, then it’ll be easier to build our movement. Of course our politics will never, ever be allowed to hold any actual power within our bourgeois electoralist system but, if the Trump administration and Bernie’s presidential run taught me anything, it’s that it’s worth it just to get publicity to unapologetically espouse our views. It could help us, regardless of the actual outcome of the election.

You can hate Bernie all you want for ultimately being a electoralist lib, but you can't deny that his campaign and rhetoric helped radicalize millions of people.

I think if the priority on the left is fighting fascism, then electoralism is a necessary evil we have to figure out at some point. Aunt Tifa is only effective at blocking fascist thuggery on the streets as long as the police remain neutral--once they join the fascists, then it's game over unless a popular front of some kind is in place within the political apparatus.

That doesn't mean voting for Biden--he's only going to accelerate the rise of fascism once Larry Summers instructs him to bail out the banks once again in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, instead of the people whose livelihoods were destroyed. I think the only sensible way to vote against fascism is to rally behind an independent workers party, like PSL, that is capable of stealing votes from the Dems. Enough votes that they will be forced to adopt worker-friendly policies that prevent the rise of fascism rather than exacerbate it.

The example I have in mind is in the 1930s when the Dems adopted the New Deal, partially to undercut the increasingly popular leftist parties of the US. The left eventually rallied behind the new deal, and that ended up providing an effective popular front against rising American fascism. A similar thing played out in France around this time.

IDK, what are people's thought on this?

I see 3rd parties as more of organizational means than electoral ones. It is important to foster a socialist leftist organized movement in the US. Voting for the greens wont really do this but its certainly better than nothing. Ill vote for La Riva, and anyone else can too in most states.

I don’t live in a swing state, so I’ll vote Howie just as a fuck you to the Dems and then down ballot for any progressives.
