Holy shit, with as much as I hate libs, I forgot the cartoonish insanity that brews in Republicans. A political branch of the US in solidarity against cancel culture? You're lying to me, right? Have they just finished with substantial issues? Is the environment already fucked and then fucked once more just to be safe?
It's important to remember how bad the chuds are. I don't think leftists like Amber or Liz Franczak are Nazbol, clearly. But you spend too much time dunking on libs and ignoring chuds it kinda warps your brain a bit.
This is unironically actually important to think about. After getting totally chapo-fied over the last couple years, after Bernie lost and they were coming up kinda limp about BLM, it started feeling like an echo chamber. I still think they are all smart and hilarious and right about most things, but you're not a lib if you want to ignore Pelosi-style politics for a second and just go fight chuds. You're just a good person.
Republicans: If we provide people with basic needs in a pandemic, they'll grow dependent so we have no option but to sacrifice them to the blood god instead.
Also Republicans: Actually, the Constitution makes it illegal to criticize Christopher Columbus.
Lmao "let me imprison all opposition" is literally on their platform
It's a good thing that the democrats are such a strong opposition party. There's no way that they'll just go along with this and vote in favor of republican policies!
If Trump just implemented these policies bypassing everything, the libs would go: "While we do understand the perilous situation, we must not sink to their level. The people should take their energy to the ballot box. VOTE."
I'm not a fan of SPLC, but I'm pretty sure it's for entirely different reasons
- Resolution to imprison all communist radicals like Hillary Clinton and BLM antifa
Resolution to conserve history and combat prejudice - Christopher Columbus
"Yo, fuck you, indigenous people. Not in a material way just this second, but fuck you nonetheless." (Actual resolution frames this as caring about discrimination against Italians and Catholics.)
Probably actually read this one? The framing is some concerning bullshit. But the actual resolution is that all republicans should call their local officials and demand the ability to have in-person religious gatherings.
Establish a timeline for engaging in trade protectionism in medicine. Motivations are yellow peril and desire to line the pockets of the US medicine industry, but "we should control our medical supply chain" isn't actually that scary.
Resolution in support of America-first principles
I can't find this one
Pretty interesting attempt to hybridize Trump's new fascist rhetoric with the old Starve The Beast strategy, rhetorically. Whole thing is about cutting regulatory organizations, meat of it is reworking the Administrative Procedure Act of 1946. This is a cornerstone law in how the federal government works, how different organizations interact, and what responsibilities they have to the public.
This one's probably the legal side of implementing fascism.
Resolution refuting the legitimacy of the Southern Poverty Law center to identify hate groups
"The SPLC is a far-left group and we're no longer listening to them!" They just have an advisory capacity to the DHS though, so there's no real change to be made.
Writing six resolutions was already too much work. Just copy the 2016 platform for the rest and defer to President Trump on everything. And anyone who dares change it before 2024 is unpatriotic.
caring about discrimination against Italians
Calling us out by name
100% of this platform wouldn't exist if Republicans stayed off Twitter
the weirdest thing about this is just how puerile it all is
I have no idea what most of this even means. Does this mean anything to americans, or does it make just as little sense (and/or outline just as little actual policy) in context?
"Finish draining the swamp" is the night of long knives.
"Conserve history" is legal protections for Confederate monuments.
"Upholding the first amendment in response to cancel culture" is krystalnacht.
"Upholding the first amendment in response to the pandemic" is ending the lockdowns and mask orders.
"America first principles" is enshrined nationalism.
ok, so america's doomed but actually this time. I guess this announcement must have made accelerationists happy, because jesus fucking christ.
