I say we means test the Manchins by locking them in a room with every parent that lost their child because they couldn't afford epinephrine, and let them know that everyone in that room has a pardon for what ever may or may not happen in the room.

This is why every public aid program is like "we'll pay $30 on your student loans if you owned a boat between 1997 and 2010 and if you live at least 3 miles away from a railroad and if you have any immediate family born with extra fingers"

There are literally studies showing what families have spent the money on. It was mostly food and clothing.

you could also just look outside of the us and see that maybe a country of similar size and population like brazil, has done these programs for years and people used this money to buy appliances and food, and that the benefits of that program are so obvious that even right wing politicians would promise to no touch it, maybe look at the healthcare system too, it would be kinda humiliating even if a country that has a fraction of the american economy had a single payer system that no joke YOU could use for free if you came over here and got sick

Manwich is just like my dad, both fully believe that welfare is used to buy booze and drugs and that poor people should be sterilized. gg, have fun next year folks.

I cant help but feel we are only a handful of elections from this entire American project actually dissolving, how in the world do you keep your empire together when you refuse to do basic repairs from time to time, at what point do the treats stop flowing? Once that happens real friction in the super fluid political state will collapse

Economically, direct subsidies are universally better. Imagine having a moral problem with giving money to the poor.

The American outlook is if some people use public welfare other than intended then there shouldn't be welfare at all. It's a brazen contempt for the poor under the guise of not aiding "immoral" behavior. It's considered common sense here that one shouldn't give money to homeless people directly since they'll spend it on alcohol and drugs. So the answer is give them nothing at all, which is somehow the higher ethical position
