Hello, cis mom of trans kid here with a question about medical care.

Do any of you cross state lines to receive care in a less restrictive state? Could you speak on that at all or point me towards any resources about it?

Ohio is trying hard to ban hrt, but I will drive his ass to Michigan for every appointment before I let DeWine decide my son's fate.

I know once he's an adult next summer, he can do diy if he needs to, and I saw some links here about that while I was searching for posts and comments about crossing state lines. It doesn't seem like something I should help him with while he's a minor, though, considering the climate. I fear my bigoted family reporting us and the state making an example of us.

Thank you ❤️

I don't have resources or help to point you to, I live in Canada. I just want to say bless you, people like you make me hopeful for trans youth. I wish my parents had been like you. ❤️

I'm almost certain there will be a trans youth org in Michigan that you can phone that can point you the way. Same for Ohio to be honest, they'll probably be able to help get you and your son squared away.

Thank you! I was hesitant to ask orgs for direction because I don't want to put them in a legally sketchy situation. I know some of the anti-abortion legislation has penalties for helping someone, and idk how much teeth they've put in these "protections" for minors. I don't want anyone to get in trouble for telling me how to violate Ohio law.

Possible that Erin in the morning has already broken down the bill, I could dig around for you if you like

I would reach out to the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit. They are a radical liberal gay and trans youth support organization.

I think a lot of us just bought hormones online and paid for blood testing from private labs. it's much easier than driving for hours in both directions.
