I have a few severely immunocompromised friends. One has basically not left their house for 2 years now, save for small stretches where there was no covid here at all. If they get it they're fucked, totally, even though they're perfectly fine without. Also the government is trying to remove their disability pension.

My wife is immunocompromised, which pretty much makes me immunocompromised

It's been a long two years

that's my roommate too. basically only leaves the house if she needs to do grocery runs, or go to doc appointments and stuff.

That’s me, but I just don’t have anywhere to go that is worth getting Covid for.

yeah, the one major risk she takes is doing organizing/outreach for mainly sex workers in the city (mostly distribution of goods, helping with other services/harm reduction)

    Good luck to you all.

I’m curious how y’all might have got it. Any ideas? Without doxxing yourself, what are your risk scenarios? In particular I’d like to know if it was through an N95 in a public place.

one of my friends is a super germ freak and has been really stressing over corona. she wore a big plastic visor over her face with a mask and glasses. still got it somehow. working theory is either it got in the vents in her apartment somehow or on something she ate from the supermarket. or maybe it got in her hair and she touched the hair and then her face when she got home. i joked that maybe it got into her ear

i got it walking past some kids with no masks in the rain/wind a couple weeks back

one got it from an asymptomatic friend

another got it pulling their garbage can back into their driveway after pickup. so one of the garbage guys probably had it and coughed on the can

we havent had contact just been messaging each other.

I am both appreciative of and horrified by those details.

Vents in the apartment, walking by some kids, from the garbage can… in your hair?! I’m so sick of this.

id have to ask what she was wearing that day. pretty sure ive seen her in a n95 before. idk about respirator

edit: n95 + plastic face guard + glasses + gloves. i guess if you wanna protect yourself you gotta shower when you get home and keep your hair in a net or something plus a respirator. like for my own sanity i refuse to believe she got it at the store, maybe was on some food or in the vents

Vents in the apartment seems far and away the most likely explanation there.

If she went to the supermarket, it's totally plausible that she got sick there if her mask isn't super tight because they aren't ventilated. Which is insane to me that we're at this stage in the pandemic and air purifiers aren't like an OSHA requirement yet for frequented big establishments. People are recommending that you carry a CO2 meter to know if a place has proper ventilation as an added precaution.

Its amazing, at the same time I know of at least a few cases where someones partner got it but not them, even though they sleep in the same bed.

oh god, we're fucked. Best of luck comrade.

I really, really hope my fam are all part of the ~13% of asymptomatic carriers of Covid.
