Chapo energy has withered away, so let's reassess and check what we're listening to.
What do you immediately consume on release?
What do you put on when you want stuff on, but have run out of new stuff you're excited for?
What have you dropped?
Post reasons maybe
the deprogram is the one I've been listening to right as it releases. the first two episodes are a little weaker while they're figuring out their dynamic but after that it's :chefs-kiss:
Same here, I don't think I've waited any longer than an hour max after release to listen to each episode
Also blowback, while not releasing episodes rn afaik, is one I've listened through at least twice per season
I listened to the first 3 episodes and loved 'em, Reform or Revolution was particularly good. Then for some reason spotify (fuck spotify btw) next played the one on the Hilary Clinton Masterclass bullshit, I literally listened to it a couple hours ago. I did not at all care for that episode, and was thinking "damn, I hope they stayed as good as their early episodes and this one isn't representative of them already going downhill after a good start."
So I'm happy to see it looks like most here agree they get better, and tonight was just a fluke.
tbh, Chapo has been pretty good lately.
But otherwise I listen to most (>50%) episodes of:
- Radio Warnerd
- Revleft Radio
- Media Roots Radio
- E1
- The East is a Podcast
I really love Citations Needed, but have been listening to it less. I kinda feel like I understand their analysis too well to enjoy it like I use to

Yeah it's been a super fucking effective podcast lmao. There are still things that blow my mind but not as often as when I started listening. So I don't check it regularly anymore. I should catch up though.
Totally agree with ur CN take. War Nerd fucking rocks as well.
Revolutionary Left Radio is alright, I like Breht, he is a relatable guy and tackles some interesting theory and also philosophy stuff.
RevLeft, Red Menace and Guerilla History are all great for all sorts of left adjacent stuff
RevLeft Radio with Breht is probably my favorite podcast. I can never understand why it's not more well-known and praised around here.
Not that I don't have my own critiques, but I'd like to see criticism of that show from people who prefer other leftist podcasts significantly more.
Honestly there are very few critiques to be made imo. It’s an excellent podcast and he brings on the best guests who know a ton about their topics
That's pretty much my take on it too. Which is why I'm surprised I almost never hear the podcast mentioned here.
it's great!
in breht's own words, "incredibly well said"
Trillbillies, I like their country vibe since I kinda distanced myself from it back when I cared what people thought. They're all really funny. Their dynamic and how they play off eachother makes them a really nice listen.
radio war nerd
and i dunno, chapo is still really entertaining. Like, I know it's fun to rag on them for, as I do all the time for being libs and punching down at times but they just have a magnetic energy to them and they're pretty funny/witty.
They're like Simpsons season...like 10 at this point we're not quite in Zombie Chapo territory. The energy isn't quite there, but there's still enough good lines per episode that I'll justify listening to it on the treadmill.
Sort of where I'm at. Matt is still enjoyable but Felix's irony has started to chafe more recently.
i will listen to chapo until i die, because i have shit taste.
i've been trying to shill them here for a while but 5-4 is a really good pod about the Supreme Court
I still listen to Chapo because I’m a :LIB:
I listen to QAnon Anonymous a lot more consistently. They’ve been pivoting to a general-ish conspiracy show now that Q has been losing relevance. It’s often more interesting than Chapo since those guys do a TV or weird take episode every other week. I like hearing more about the crazies and hearing Julian’s laugh. When she’s on, Liv is cool too.
Wish Ashes Ashes was still around. Ironically a very relaxing listen.
Oh True Anon is alright. Never could get into them though. They kinda lose me on their tangents/banter. I always end up getting distracted and doing something else.
Fallen behind on Citations Needed in a big way. I think they’re great of course, but I feel like they rehash some stuff a lot maybe? It’s clear they’re really passionate and knowledgeable about the topics they usually cover, but they never really branch out much if they can’t get a good guest. This one trans/bathroom(?) episode from ages ago for example was nice, but it didn’t sound like Johnson and Shirazi had a lot to say. Understandable, but the first half felt a little… aimless?
Blowback 3 when??
Well There's Your Problem - They're good, folks.
Blowback - Seasons 1 and 2 are on spotify now.
Citations Needed - I go through phases of listening to them and then getting too mad to listen to them
Chapo Trap House - a group of New York lefty types riffing on political news
damn, if only there was a super cool, hilarious, cutting edge politics and media podcast hosted by one of your very own hexbear friends...

I am 21 minutes into the latest episode, Cyborg Charles Manson: Pedophile Hunter
and it's a banger
I still love Beep Beep Lettuce, which is essentially this website in podcast form
edit: oh, and Work Stoppage, John's other, more serious, podcast is really great
