I assumed it’s someone who hates football and lives with someone who loves it and is trying to get some small enjoyment out of the Super Bowl where they can find it

Most totally indoctrinated country in history. Massive re-education efforts needed post-liberation.

To Matt’s point it used to be the only place you’d get a new meme in a normal calendar year so that used to be a fine thing to say, but now why the fuck would you do that? Just go watch TikTok it’s all funnier

Mental image of like a clapping seal just hollering and getting fish thrown at their face.

I ask them "okay, so what brands are you rooting for?"

You're not a real commercials fan if you don't at least have a fantasy business team.

Is today the superbowl? This is the longest I've gone without actually knowing what day it's on or who is playing

Maybe 20 years ago that was a semi valid take. At least then the commercials were pushing the idea of what advertising was and people would be talking about them for a few days/weeks.

But now, there hasn't been a culturally relevant commercial for years and years. Just skip it, dude, nobody is gonna quiz you on the commercials.

Soy. Same affect as “I watch Comedy Central for my news and Fox News for my comedy.” Super Bowl commercials are a cultural barometer for the U.S., I can understand just dunking on them, but not seeking them as a source of entertainment.
