Years of thinking Russia is the most evilest nation to have ever existed ever. Satan's own country full of oligarchs and communists who are of course the same thing.

They’re trying to compare Hitler to Putin and realize the comparison doesn’t work, so they twisted themselves into a fuck knot and wound up praising Hitler instead.

While it’s not new, all these new hot Hitler takes are coming into full view now because Maddow was talking about it in her show. Liberals will parrot every word from their news entertainment shows

My guess is they've been seeing takes that while Putin's attack is undeubtedly evil, it's not substantively different feom US wars in the Middle East. This implies that the US is evil, which makes the libs uncomfortable and cranky. So they go out to find a way to make poutine the evilest there is, just incomparable to anything anyone else has done.

Hitler copyrighted his own image and then made stamps with his face on them, taking a percentage from every stamp sold in Germany from the post office. He got incredibly rich off this scheme.

He racked up a fuckton of debt and then ordered the bank to forgive it all because he had the legal right to do literally anything he wanted. He also made it a legal requirement for all newly married couples to be gifted a copy of his book by the person who married them, and the person marrying them had to pay for the book.

Unlike POOPin, Hitler was a veteran and a proud patriot.

[10 minutes later] Okay so I'm receiving word that Putin served in the KGB and is a patriot for his country. But folks, my point still stands, Hitler is better than POOPin.

I'm listening to The Third Reich at War and that's not even true. Some of the gas chambers, the ones based on captured Soviet tank engines, broke down all the time. Sometimes with victims already inside.

I did have someone argue to me that Hitler was left because he used government funds to create jobs in the military.

"Hey Otto, they need you down at chamber 6, the gasser is clogged again". Otto grumbled and grabbed his tool bag, looking through it and pulling out a can of WD-40, giving it a good shake to make sure there was enough fluid for the job.

Just imagining this was a real human.

Just further imagining the score needed on the Nazi asvab to qualify for being trained for the position.

Meanwhile, I'm imagining what the 1930s German equivalent to WD-40 might have been, and guessing it's still around and being manufactured by Bayer or something. Probably some variant of 3-In-One.

tbh it was probably some poor fucking slave who would be forced to fix the gas chamber. Nazis needed all their "aryan" mechanics in the USSR to glue their massive pile of broken tank transmissions together.

Wait, this person is German and lives in Germany, and they don't understand that Hitler did all of the things that they're alleging he didn't? They should know better than me, someone who hasn't left my own state in the last ten years.

Eh, even German Libs and conservatives have a very shallow understanding of history. They know more about Hitler and the Nazis compared to Americans just because of how low of a bar that is.

Its even more "fun" he was member of the pirate party and very closely associated to the CCC the german computer club. The pirate party got even voted into the state parliament and he was one of the elected officials, since then it went downhill with him (but there wasn't really any highpoint before either).

He is extremely chauvinistic, classist, ableist and as you see Nazi relativistic.

There are other /c/badhistory takes as well.

I never got why "fighting to the bitter end" would be a good thing to do. Surrendering when facing certain defeat sounds like the ethical thing to do when that means avoiding further death and destruction.

Hitler had such good civic values his regime had mentally disabled children be put to death. Parents who'd heard things about other parents in similar situations who had never seen their kid again and had been told their kid died would desperately try not to have their kids taken, but they were forcibly removed anyway. Wasn't he a swell guy?

I'm beginning to understand why libs might be getting tired of hearing the left call reactionaries nazis, it's because they're beginning to think the nazis weren't all that bad.
