This is already step three - "Yea, we fought with and for Hitler, but we were still the good guys". It will be interesting to see if step 3 gets wider use, so far it has been only used by randos on twitter, not broadly like step 2 so far.
Step 4 is just actually Hitler did nothing wrong, given the way they are talking about Russians suffering we are heading there already.
