Thought it would be funny if legalizing weed was used as Major win for Biden before the inevitable gravitational well of the mid terms comes to bear rotten fruit.

I have zero optimism that these measures contain any wording that prevents hiring discrimination based on cannabinoid metabolite positives.

Probably not, although there are cities that have banned pre-employment drug tests.

That actually sounds like a great tactic. Except it could also backfire pretty hard.

even IF there was full federal legalization,, you know they're not letting out the thousands they have locked away and use as prison slave labour on cannabis charges

If I was a sociopathic Congress political "wonk," I'd do everything in my power to get that bill passed.

    Why?

A lot of single issue voters would reward the passing for one election cycle, then tune out and stop caring entirely because that was the single issue they cared about, meaning all sorts of horrible stuff could then happen to hurt those same voters but they've already tuned out because they got that single issue passed so no consequences would occur after that.

Most weed smokers already live in states where it's legal (I smoke myself), and there is exactly 0 people who give a shit about weed when it comes to voting. 0.

I think your right but the doomer inside me is attempting to convince me other wise but also I cant deny that cannabis lobbying is a thing and that markets tend to never be left untaped if its not making someone money.

There is no way the 90 year old ghouls that run this country will allow this to happen. Don't forget, the VERY SAME people that advocated for the war on drugs from its inception STILL hold office. It isn't going to happen, they need the carte blanche "he smells like marijuana" bullshit to incarcerate black people. Free labor is the cornerstone of US economics, and the US is going to need to increase its slave labor force

Yeah I have no confidence in the federal government legalizing cannabis. I think it's going to have to come down to the state level, that's where it's been having breakthroughs anyway.

Even if the Dems could get it together enough long enough to pass this the Republicans would torpedo it if it meant screwing Biden over

I'm guessing the thing they're going to use to enslave people in prisons if Marijuana is legal will be even worse.

I thought all Biden needed to do to legalize weed was give the Attorney General some marching orders and let the wheels at the justice department turn. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Honestly though please. My wife uses it medicinally for a rare neurological pain disorder and it’s so frustrating having to buy this shit illegally because I live in an ass backwards state. Also it would make getting high and watching cartoons easier for me so win win

    Please god.

I'm so tired of the anxiety of drug testing for a job simply because I smoke weed in my personal time. Makes it so I can't quit a shit job because of the hassle/risk of faking the test. It's legal in my state too but we all know this is still enforced only for the insurance companies getting out of liability. I wouldn't be surprised if companies found a way to maintain that policy even if it was federally legal.....
