:ira: The tweet was correct, though.
Kelly, 36, tweeted “the only good Brit soldier is a deed one, burn auld fella buuuuurn.”
Lies detected: 0.
So they're about to prosecute all the libs calling for Russians to die, right? lol of course not :ukkk:
Sheriff Adrian Cottam, who sentenced Kelly, told the 36-year-old: “My view is, having heard the evidence, that this was a grossly offensive tweet. The deterrence is really to show people that despite the steps you took to try and recall matters as soon as you press the blue button that’s it. It’s important for other people to realise how quickly things can get out of control. You are a good example of that, not having many followers ”
All Westoid accusations are confessions, this is literally everything Reddit and Twitter rails against presented without any shame or artifice
the only good Brit soldier is a deed one, burn auld fella buuuuurn :ukkk:
the only good Brit soldier is a deed one, burn auld fella buuuuurn
this is one of the few good things about America tbh, you can even say “the only good President is a dead President” as long as you clarify you are not threatening the current president’s life.
That's not a feature of the US lol. They will absolutely target people for all kinds of things, usually doesn't get any attention. I think the "punishing people for wrongthink" industry is simply far more decentralized and ingrained in the US.
The secret is that they figured out a way around the First Amendment. If a private corporation does it on behalf of the government, then it's OK.
Say, what's it called when corporate and government interests merge, and you can't tell where one stops and the other begins?
yeah its from private institutions normally though, unless you are a popular figure / in a subversive group
The tweet was correct, though.
The tweet was about a WWII vet who fought the fascist Imperial Japan then used the last years of his life advocating for the NHS.
Nah, miss me with that fascist apologia. Saying mean things about the troops isn't a crime. Bad taste? Yeah, okay, maybe in this case. But there's a 0.000% chance any :british-maw: would ever face consequences for saying the same thing about, say, Russian soldiers. Or anybody who isn't white (for whatever value of "white" we measure it as today).
Oh yeah, there definitely shouldn't be punishment for it, but that doesn't make the tweet correct. Dude literally fought fascists.
I'm sure the British right who are still hung up over Count Whatshisface will be up in arms over this as well.
