Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Man all this "aid" is going to be worse for Ukraine in the long term than the invasion.

Washington, DC : The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today approved a disbursement of US$1.4 billion (SDR 1,005.9 million) under the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) to help meet urgent financing needs and mitigate the economic impact of the war.

it was really only the nobility who spoke french in russia
Yeah that was the whole deal. Russians DIDN'T speak it, but the Tsars and aristocrats only spoke it. It was a big sop to the majority from Catherine when she made the effort to learn Russian
Dow under 30,000 :sicko-blur:
Lowest in Biden's presidency so far lmao.
Hate it when I accidentally destroy my country's economy and greatly accelerate the downfall of a global empire that lasted a century because I wanted to defend a Nazi-infested country from an army that they're gonna lose to anyway
I totally believe the Biden regime are fools, but someone is looking at the longer time frame who knows what they are doing. The US economy has been fucked for years, now they are attempting a controlled burn off, maybe trying to drive us down into "too big to fail" zone again since it worked out so well for them the last time, while also boosting the MIC infrastructure. The 1% wouldn't ignore increasing social unrest, so pushing the working class toward desperation, food and housing insecurity, or even a tipping point while the militarized police are strong and well funded works to their advantage. I'm just spitballing and probably bazinga brained today, whatever the angle the working class is going to get fucked.
No one is looking at them longer time frame.
lobbyists, .1% oligarchs, warhawks, defense contractors, high level spooks, certainly are even if the plan is peace out and turn the US into a prison colony
What's the end game for a empire core that is a prison colony?
Even if this is the case and your right. They're still idiots evil idiots that don't understand what's Infront of them. Russia and China will pass us and we will just become more of a dump than we already are. The profits will dry up. The unipolar we do what we want and profit years are over. And even the powerful are idiots if they don't recognize this. Even if they get a short term gain. Cuz that's all that's left for the usa right now. Is short sighted greed.
That isn't the end game, that is the path of least resistance from where we are now at this stage of collapse. How can they not yet understand that China will pass the US, since it already has by many metrics. I'm not so sure as communists on the internet we have a better grasp of these geopolitics than those who have active influence. I think they are just dishonest and propaganda is an ingrained way of thinking and conveying information. Certainly advantages from a de-wormed perspective, but still a somewhat dangerous assumption they are too stupid to recognize reality when a plausible scenario is they simply don't give a shit about the relative success of the US anymore as long as profits continue to be extracted elsewhere, and they can go live anywhere they want and simply transfer their wealth to another economy at the right time. They are planning for the inevitable collapse. My question is who is pulling for a soft landing, vs who want's to pull the rug and let the boots fall domestically. We see continuous MIC packages and militarized police budget increases, so I'm not optimistic.
I don't doubt that many in the ruling class still believe in the empire, and have plans to use genocidal regime change tactics to maintain hegemony, but I assure you it's not only leftists who understand those days are over. The "long time frame" I refer to is those who prefer a smooth transition from unipolarity and have a less rabid outlook, although it's more satisfying to believe everyone except us is truly deranged. I also have no doubt that some powerful people are death cultists and believe the only alternative is pushing us toward a MAD situation with Russia and China, I think we are witnessing this struggle now.

That, and the idea that the only reason why Russia is needing to inflict massive casualties on Ukraine is pure cruelty rather than that being the reality of war ("Why aren't they rapidly advancing and instead being cowards and bombarding them with artillery from a safe distance?!") and also that taking land from Ukraine isn't necessarily victory. You also see this with people saying that the USSR "lost" their war with Finland.
I hypothetically agree with the idea that Pyrrhic victories exist, but if you're saying that Ukraine can inflict a Pyrrhic victory on Russia despite losing lots of territory if they also manage to weaken Russia's military for a generation or cause massive unrest inside Russia, then I need actual evidence of either of those things happening before I agree, and I don't think there's evidence for either case, despite Ukraine claiming that they've destroyed a billion artillery pieces and half of Russia's army or whatever. And with Zelensky to this day maintaining the fantasy that only 3000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed despite admitting that there are at least 200 deaths a day on the Donbass front, any figures put out by Ukraine are just not at all credible. I generally think that if you give Ukraine's claimed losses to Russia and Ukraine's claimed Russian losses to Ukraine, you will have a substantially more accurate view of the current state of the war, and that the recent admission of massive daily Ukrainian casualties is the first real break from that.
You have to actually win for Pyrrhic victories to count
Pyrrhic defeat

Everything I know about the Fed and the economy in general suggests to me that most of the time, the Fed is playing a video game with a disconnected controller. Everybody's just like "oh my god, Jerome Powell just entered the konami code!" and it just doesn't do anything other than making the markets go a little crazy.

one of the 2 Captured US Soldiers has a wierd twist
hes a Chemical weapons expert ...
Edit: Pics
:soviet-hmm: :thonk:
I don't know about specialist/expert roles in the US army compared to mine but the specialist roles aren't that hard or uncommon to get so it could just be that he went on a month long course to get a nice lil ribbon/medal on his uniform, I wouldn't read too much into it.
Yeah, in Vietnam it was like a 3 week course followed by a few years breathing in Agent Orange you were stacking into planes.
on second thaught , he got caputered meaning that he probably was more Volunteere then deep cover false flag operator , he would be much further away for that ..
so i go with you , stupid and he got some badge for wearing a gas mask for 30 minutes in training..
yeah , might be , might not be , we can rest assured that we will be fully informed evtlally by ether Russian or Western Media /s
I'm doing this with an ear infection, which kinda sucks. Apologies for any mistakes or weird formatting.
Summary:
News:
Some European factories are closing. European gas prices soar to record highs after Russia cuts off some gas in the Nord Stream pipeline, as well as some gas to Italy due to anti-Italian racism. Europe can't really explain how all this substitution of gas resources helps the climate. The desperation of people in Europe is making them now favour peace as soon as possible, rather than Ukraine getting all its territory back. In the Baltic States, they apparently want a lot more NATO support, but NATO is being spread too thin right now, going off to the Arctic, fighting Islamic insurgencies, and going to space, which is odd for a defensive alliance. The ex-mayor of Russian-controlled Melitopol says that parts of France should be ceded to Putin rather than parts of Ukraine, given Macron's previous comments. Russia causes $4.3 billion in agricultural damage to Ukraine. Ukraine does Orwellian 1984 Chinese social credit but now it's obviously good if they do it. Ukraine intends to take Russia to court for environmental damage. Ukraine needs an extra $5 billion per month - I'll get the GoFundMe up. Ikea officially leaves Russia due to supply chain issues. It turns out that people in Moscow are basically fine economically, and have faced less dramatic changes than Americans have faced. Russia's Foreign Ministry says that the West has shot itself in the head. Navalny is moved to an infamously bad maximum security prison. Germany's steelworkers win their highest pay rise in 30 years, at a 6.5% increase. The EU sues the UK due to them fucking up the Northern Ireland brexit thing. In return, the UK says they might leave the EU Human Rights Court after they were stopped from flying migrants to Rwanda, potentially following Russia's exit from the court. Old people retiring is apparently a serious threat to the UK economy, which is how you know it's stable and good.
Laos says that they can guarantee a fuel supply for three more months. China's BRI is very helpful in Cambodia. Australia wants to nearly half their carbon emissions by the end of the decade, while the coldest start to a winter in decades hits the country. China rejects the label of "major emitter".
Jacobin posts an article/transcript detailing the changing strategies by the American Empire in the Middle East. Suffering is at extreme levels in Palestine, while the US asks Israel to please cut back on the blatant oppression while Biden is visiting, and they can keep doing it afterwards. Pakistan is being fucked over by the IMF. Iran is making more friends in the region. The UAE is banning the export of the Indian wheat it's bought. Turkey hasn't seen anything concrete from Sweden or Finland yet. The Saudi embassy in Washington is now on 'Jamal Khashoggi Way', thus holding MBS accountable.
Libya's oil output is being screwed by political instabilities at a very bad time. South Africa says they might buy Russian oil. Tunisia has a 1-day general strike today. Zambia is also being screwed by the IMF.
The Fed increases interest rates by 0.75%, the largest increase since the 1990s. There might be a recession. There won't be a recession. There will be a recession. There won't be a recession. There will be a recession. There will be a recession. Millennial millionaires says there won't be a recession. Biden writes a polite letter to the oil companies, yelling at them for not doing more to bring down prices for American consumers, while wondering where the hell President Obama is and why he isn't doing anything about this either. Monthly car payments hit a record high of $712 in May, while US prison slaves produce $11 billion worth of goods and services for no real payment. Spy agencies could snare innocent Chinese Americans. It turns out that Biden vaguely saying they'd stop supporting Saudi Arabia in Yemen didn't actually mean anything. Starbucks threatens to take away trans-inclusive health benefits from unionizing shops.
Argentina wants $6 billion in hydrogen energy investment.
Surging wheat prices cause noodle eaters to despair.
Conflict and Climate:
The head of the DPR states that "it is necessary to liberate all Russian cities" when asked if Odessa will be taken; the DPR will hold a referendum on joining Russia after the war; and the DPR will continue past the borders of Donetsk oblast and not stop just because their oblast is liberated. Syria recognizes the DPR and LPR, giving them the Assad Blessing. American electronics are in Russian military gear and the FBI is unhappy about that. Two US veterans in Ukraine have gone missing in Ukraine. The US sends $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine. Russia destroys a NATO depot in Lviv. US general Mark Milley says that the situation in Ukraine favors the Russians. Russia reportedly attacks in Lugansk region in nine separate directions. NATO is becoming increasingly divided over how much military equipment to send to Ukraine. If Ukraine's military wishlist was actually completed, then it would take large amounts of the US's current arsenal.
The Arctic ocean is heating up even faster than previously thought. Canadian Dimension posts an article on how privatization cannot save us from climate change. China confirms the presence of water in certain Moon rocks.
Dipshittery, Good Takes, and Hope:
The Guardian thinks that the lesson of Melechon is that we need less socialism and more social democracy. Ukraine corruption is not actually that bad, at least compared to Russia, says Al Jazeera. Bloomberg suggests that Putin is withholding the grain on purpose, and not because there's a fucking minefield in front of Ukraine's ports. An Egyptian billionaire says that Putin is Hitler. Zelensky says that Russia wants to invade eastern Europe after Ukraine. Putler must have learned his lesson after his epic defeat at Kyiv. The US is overestimating Russia's military might but underestimating China's. The US says that China's support for Russia puts it on the wrong side of history.
A great article by Popular Resistance on how a multipolar world is defined by class struggle, and is being spearheaded by Russia and China against the US. An article by RT showcasing the complete fucking delusion of Fukuyama. An article by Multipolarista on Serbia, the original color revolution.
China says that they'll continue to support Russia on security, on Xi's birthday.
Interesting news from Kherson and Zaporozhye:
The CAA of Free Zaporozhye informs that all children born in the region after February 24 automatically become citizens of Russia. The same will happen in the Kherson region.
It is also worth noting that marriages in the territory of the Kherson region and Zaporozhye are now registered in accordance with Russian, and not Ukrainian, legislation.
deleted by creator
Kinda, yeah. They haven't really "broken off" - Russia just seems to be outright annexing them, they're saying that Kherson and Zaporozhye will become like Crimea. As opposed to the DPR and LPR, which are being given the free choice via a referendum to join Russia.
Russia has been doing stuff like this in Kherson and Zaporozhye for a while now. Forgiving debts, giving out Russian passports, teaching children according to Russian standards, switching the currency to the ruble.

Everyone wants to be a US ally until the question of hosting nuclear weapons comes into play. I may well be wrong but this is just pandering, there is no realistic chance Japan will join NATO and therefore be required to host nuclear weapons unless some drastic developments happen.
China and DPRK have nukes, this is a key point and again unless I'm wrong I'm not aware of any major change in the average Japanese taboo regarding nukes recently.
But obviously of course that neoliberal shithole got a completely detached political class so anything is possible.
Biden Should Show Iran What ‘Plan B’ Looks Like Bloomberg
Absolutely fucking deranged. These journalists are genuine fucking demons.
...
They CANNOT be as stupid as to think the US can wage a military conflict against Iran, right … ?
Plan B is gonna happen anyway when Trump gets reelected.
I hope Iran can build a nuke before then

Every inch that the Ruscists advance must be paid for continuously in blood and will stretch their already fragile supply lines ever further.
Once Ukraine has completed it's tactical retreat to Lviv the trap will be set and the Russian collapse will become imminent.

"Russian Su-57s began to carry out combat missions during a special operation in Ukraine with links (of four planes) .
