Considering how many bazinga brains reject academia and say "don't trust the experts" then get all their scientific data, news, political viewpoints, philosophical outlooks, and even personality starting kits from chuds like Joe Rogan, I find it hard to be that upset about this. :xinternet:

Yeah I was going to say, if the US and, to a slightly lesser extent, the UK didn't exist as a perfect fucking example of why all this shit is bad then I might have a qualm with it. But, lol, we're literally electing leaders based off of internet personalities at this point so

I think there's a non-joking significant chance that :heated-gamer-moment: is elected to public office at some point before the United States collapses. Yes, I know the legal barriers. Would they really matter with the chuds just pushing them over?

Plenty of ELO~N's fandom were, or at least claimed to be, non-chuds, well-meaning techno-hopium huffers or even weird idealists that made claims like :trump-anguish: would be kept in check with :my-hero: there to whisper in his ear. Maybe a lot of those fans weren't lying and meant that, but over time, they either quit or got with the chud program.

I think the same can be said about the Rogan fandom over time.

Now that Rogan, ELO~N and fucking :jordan-eboy-peterson: now hang out together for selfies around bazinga cars, anyone still around in the fandom shouldn't be surprised to be called a chud.

This is pretty cool. It prevents combining entertainment media with politics to draw people in and then wax political with people to radicalise them through complex topics that the audience doesn't fully understand. I completely approve of it.

Right wing shits did this with medicine, they did this with law, they did this with crypto, etc etc. It shuts down tonnes of methods to radicalise people in the online space.

The guideline that was published is just regulations for what a streamer is allowed to broadcast, similar to how the FCC regulates broadcasts in the US.

Binge eating videos were banned in April 2021 as part of an initiative to reduce food waste. Broadcasters who promote food waste or overeating are warned by the government and told to stop. Severe and/or repeat offenders can be fined between 10,000 and 100,000 yuan (about $1,500 to $15,000 USD).

        spoiler

Article 30 Where, in violation of the provisions of this Law, a radio station, television station, or online audio and video service provider produces, releases, disseminates, and promotes competitive eating and binge-eating programs or audios and videos on food wasting shall be ordered by the radio and TV authority and the cyberspace authority, in accordance with their respective responsibilities, to make corrections and given a warning. Where it refuses to make corrections or where the circumstances are serious, a fine of between 10,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan shall be imposed on it, and it may be ordered to suspend relevant business or suspend operation for rectification, and the leaders directly responsible and direct offenders shall be held legally liable in accordance with the law.
