      He has a cool design

Star Wars was designed to sell toys while Harry Potter and LOTR are books

Really? I always thought Vader's helmet and whole look was based on some fuedal samurai's armor.

          This guy I guess? https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-samurai-inspired-darth-vader/

Its both. If you look at the death star officers you can see a similar design that leans more into the german influence, but they're both essentially a hodge podge and blend just like everything else in star wars. Darth Vader is a space nazi samurai.

You don't wanna know the arguments I've had on star wars forums over the distinctions between Naval Troopers, Army Troopers, and Stormtroopers. Well before solo flat out confirmed the old sourcebook RPG lore finally

Yeah I never heard of a wehrmacht connection. It certainly makes sense it would be an influence as well. Though for ww2 influences Vader was very much inspired by the villain of the serial The Fighting Devil Dogs, The Lightning http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/dochermes/34340054/2270232/2270232_600.jpg

Because he's 'redeemed' at the very end of Episode 6 for saving his son, right before he died; the other 2 were evil until death

Libs love them some 'redemption' arcs

one of them looks ''Epic and badass :so-true:'', making them extremely more appealing to the eternal reddit brain, while the other two just look like a random tall guy wearing armor and an anthropomorphic fish in a cape.

Is there any reasonable logic behind why the fictional space Nazi tyrant gets glorified (not just in this example, in general as well) but like Sauron or Voldemort remain mostly as the evil dark lord in popular sentiment?

The direct diagetic response to this is: Darth Vader is a tragic figure and he is ultimately redeemed within the text. That doesn't hold true for Sauron or Voldemort. I'm not super big on LOTR lore but while I think Sauron was once a servant of Eru Illuvatar who became corrupted...that's less character development and more world-building to show that at one time all truly was in peace and harmony....and in the end there is no redemption arc for him. Voldemort pretty much seems to have been a bad seed from the outset.

Darth Vader was once the prodigal knight, who fell and eventually through the love of his son was able to return to the light in the 11th hour to perform one final act to save the galaxy.

      Also...he's really really cool looking.

Voldemort looks ugly and doesn't really ever do anything cool. Like, all his tricks are on pae with the other characters and he repeatedly loses to children. Sauron is a very distant presence. The ring doesn't act human in any way, and he doesn't speak ever in the books or films. He only physically shows up once, kills some guys, and explodes. Darth Vader is always there in the original trilogy, having cool action scenes and standing their menacingly. He looks cool and is way more powerful than most of the other ccharacters

They should make a movie about why he hates masks. Or better yet, do literally anything else

Hey at least she can't peddle transphobia or approve of the holocaust in a Voldemort backstory prequel

One Voldemort has a trans girlfriend who's mad at Dumbledore for letting the holocaust happen later

OK, maybe they just shouldn't do anything with this franchise ever again

I'm really confused by the second statement. I know that fantastic beasts has the villain say "I wanna stop the holocaust" and then everyone stops him, making it happen. I'm unaware of a gf of voldemort, trans or not.

I was attempting to joke that I didn't think she could fit her terf shit into a Voldemort prequel but if one were to come out, she'd find a way to do that and double down on the holocaust thing too

Voldemort having a trans girlfriend is just what I expect at this point

My last statement stands on its own but I will say the one exception would be haz's idea to have one final movie where all the characters are executed

    Lenin

    Lenin walks around the world.

    Frontiers cannot bar him.

    Neither barracks nor barricades impede.

Nor does barbed wire scar him.

    Lenin walks around the world.

Black, brown, and white receive him.

    Language is no barrier.

    The strangest tongues believe him.

    Lenin walks around the world.

The sun sets like a scar.

Between the darkness and the dawn

    There rises a red star.

      Comrade Lenin of Russia,

      High in a marble tomb,

      Move over, Comrade Lenin,

      And give me room.

      I am Ivan, the peasant,

      Boots all muddy with soil.

I fought with you, Comrade Lenin.

Now I have finished my toil.

      Comrade Lenin of Russia,

      Alive in a marble tomb,

      Move over, Comrade Lenin,

      And make me room.

      I am Chico, the Negro,

      Cutting cane in the sun.

I lived for you, Comrade Lenin.

      Now my work is done.

      Comrade Lenin of Russia,

      Honored in a marble tomb,

      Move over, Comrade Lenin,

      And leave me room.

I am Chang from the foundries

On strike in the streets of Shanghai.

For the sake of the Revolution

      I fight, I starve, I die.

      Comrade Lenin of Russia

      Speaks from the marble tomb:

On guard with the workers forever —

      The world is our room!

A rablánc a lábon nehéz volt,

      De széttörte büszkén a nép.

      Mert példája volt ki érte

      Feláldozta hű életét. Lenin!

A hős, ki csak népénak ét

      A béklyó a porba lehullott,

S az ember a napfénybe néz,

A zászlót emeld fel az égig,

És légy hozzá hű, míg csak élsz. Lenin!

      Ő járjon előtted, míg élsz!

És gyúlnak a lángok a földön,

      Már árad a fény szerteszét.

      Így mindenhol Északon, Délen

Szabad lesz és boldog a nép. Lenin!

Szabad lesz és boldog a nép.

Ma milljóknak ajkán egy név zeng

E név oly nagy és oly dicső

      Nem hervasztja őt semmi ármány

      Nem hervasztja idő. Lenin!

      Nem hervasztja el az idő

Csak jól fogd a fegyvert a kézben

      Te harcos, erős nemzedék

Hisz példát ad ő, aki érted

      Feláldozta hű életét. Lenin!

      Feláldozta hű életét

Lenin was the guy who created modern Ukraine as a coherent political entity and transformed the Russian empire into a multiethnic union where Ukrainian language and culture was allowed to flourish.

It's useless and not at all marxist in discipline but I day dream of a childhood in a world that is inexplicably socialist. In the simple low carbon planned economy growing isn't the same acid trip of advertising and media franchises. I would like to thing I would have valued ecology, poetry, music and developed a healthy philosophy that doesn't appeal to psychopaths trying to undo civilization.

This is pretty symbolic of the most powerful weapon the US has: Its media apparatus. Able to sway public opinion and make people around the world glamorize it with its films. Other countries severely overlook this and need to do a better job at it.
