Without brainfog: :agony-deep:
With brainfog: :this-is-fine:
Be sure to talk to your doctor to find out if covid brainfog is right for you.
If you are still in pain, ask your doctor to prescribe extra microplastics
As long as you can do work and consume, all that extra intelligence and emotion is really just dead weight that should be cut loose. Next up:
"Feeling hopeless? Consider getting lobotomized!"
"Neuralink allows workers to function on autopilot, relieving them of the burden of sentience"
"Apple Watch to come with automatic lithium infusers, providing a bright future to humanity"
"Congress debates bill to replace Social Security benefits with an automatic qualification for physician-assisted suicide at the age of 70, potentially saving billions of dollars in entitlements spending"
I was just thinking about this last night. I know several people who basically want to devote ~50% of their brain power to work/money, ~50% to hobbies, and call it a day. The personification of :blob-no-thoughts:
It's the natural conclusion to draw from our environment in places like America. Put more accurately, it's exactly the conclusion that we are lead to draw, that we are told is reasonable from every fucking source except the ones who say it should be more like 95% work/money because "grind" and then retire rich at 35.
I can't blame anyone who feels that way, and honestly I might if I believed I could do it effectively. My contempt isn't directed at them, it's directed at the architects of their personal and intellectual suicide.
My gift to industry is the genetically engineered worker, or Genejack. Specially designed for labor, the Genejack's muscles and nerves are ideal for his task, and the cerebral cortex has been atrophied so that he can desire nothing except to perform his duties. Tyranny, you say? How can you tyrannize someone who cannot feel pain?
- Chairman Sheng-ji Yang, "Essays on Mind and Matter"
feels like i'm being forced to read an entry from a rich woman's diary
Having booked and rebooked this trip several times, we had high hopes for both adventure and respite — a chance to take a breather from the maddening chafe of the American culture wars, the ominous drum beat of every news cycle.
JUST LOG OFF FOR GODS SAKE
For real. There are vast expanses of this country where you can go and not see another person for days or weeks. Instead they wanted a place that had identical political struggles and culture wars but it was published in Baguette Weekly and they couldn't read it so it couldn't be understood but they could still demand room service. Fucking... I hate these people so goddamned much.
Why have an internal life, when instead you can passively consume five pounds of processed sugar per week, become obsessed with weird attention-seeking celebrities, and watch a never-ending stream of multimedia content which prevents you from every hearing your own thoughts? America, baby. It's like a lobotomy without the surgery.
So I shouldn't be worried about having COVID brainfog, but I should worry about spooks having a little headache due to some imaginary device in Cuba or China's possession?:fidel-wut:
How terrible is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise.
they changed the clickbait title :
Column: Covid was my vacation souvenir. The brain fog is all too real
A core dump is actually when bits of your brain goo start leaking out of your ears
So getting COVID was not the worst thing that happened during our trip. Au contraire. In some ways the exhaustion and the brain fog provided the respite that even Paris could not.
When I got to au contraire I let out a very exasperated laugh
“ And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon”
