Hello! I am an egyptian from Alexandria and i want to provide some insight on the terrible situation with the beaches.
The above example is the most egregious example of the exploitation of public spaces however it is just the tip of the iceberg
Over the last 6 years the concept of a public coastline has been gradually and quietly abandoned in favor of selling the land and building cafes and restaurants
The coastline of Alexanderia is gradually being privatized there are still public beaches but they are poor quality and are poorly maintained
The majority of the coastline is sold to Cafes with exorbitant prices or occupied by hotels built directly on the sand
And it is not just Alexanderia it is the entire coastline of the north coast
There is basically no such thing as a public decent beach The shitty beaches are ledt for the poor And the coast line is occupied by resort villages and hotels There is even a situation in which the big urban projects eg marina resort and hacienda resort are siphoning large amounta of sand from surrounding beaches which is causing an ecological disaster
Egypt is the leading example of why neoliberaliasm is a complete an utter failure because all these measures are brought on by a government that has taken so much loans than we need to take more loans to pay off the interest on the previous loans.

Heh, you'd feel really at home here in Argentina :agony-wholesome:
I know the situation of Argentina is pretty horrible as well inflation wise but don't worry comrade the revolution is inevitable.
Looks the current political movements
Yeah, absolutely, it's imminent :yea:
This is what a noob Cities:Skylines player would do (I know from experience). What an ugly POS. It should be a crime against humanity to build roads over what should be publicly available spaces.
actually my beaches in Cities are always just massive off-shore wind farms because personally I do not care for the beach and like to imagine the ten billion turbines eventually becoming a vibrant coral reef :dean-smile:
are they actually planning to make it black in the desert? won't everything cook on it?
like i've been studying structural foundations this semester and it either won't or will cost so much it would be better to just let it fucking break and do it again
You have to just gawk in horror, because of the sheer insanity of it.
Worse, it's a highway to "alleviate traffic."
Bro, this time I'm not even adding more lanes to the existing road network. Bro, I swear, this brand new highway will solve all our traffic problems. Bro, please, please!:kitty-cri-screm:
Seawalls are usually just boulders (or big, interlocking blocks of concrete, depending on how fancy they want to get), that looks like a leveled foundation for something. A boardwalk or bridge, maybe?
I genuinely can’t fathom how this got through the several meetings that must’ve happened for this to move forward without someone going “That’s the worst fucking idea I’ve ever heard, who the hell came up with this???”
