i love how the guns seem futuristic not because they shoot energy beams or anything but because a single pistol round looks like it explodes outward like a tiny hand grenade after impact. basically 40k bolters. got to love those squibs
The dude on the escalator that had to be wearing like 20-30 squibs because he basically explodes in blood. Truly if anyone doubts how cool squibs can be just watch that scene and tell me CGI can do it better. I'll be filing my toenails and waiting.
Rewatched for the first time in like a decade a couple of months ago. Holds up. Also Sharon stone :pingu-horny: :spray-bottle: :volcel-judge:
My brother and I had this joke/shared agreement a long time ago about how we both would have died if we were Quaid after the "tie me up" offer.
I'm watching it right now. The movie has so much wonderful stuff. That simple, short scene for example.
The movie has so many wonderful quotes. Have fun! "Screw you, Benny!"
The movie was the zenith of Arnold screams, too. The decompression scene? Chef's kiss.
I watched this movie and then went on to watch like every other 80s and 90s aenold movie because I was so blown away
He just killed fake danny devito, there will be no Twins 2 :deeper-sadness:
The 2012 one was genuinely one of the most pointless and forgettable movies I've ever seen in my life, which is saying a great deal. Aside from Kate Beckinsale being hot that movie had absolutely nothing worthwhile to say or offer beyond some generic scifi designs, gimicky cinematography, and nostalgia bait for the original.
I watch this every christmas for some reason. I think I got confused with people saying die hard is a xmas movie, then just watched total recall instead
Watched it this week for the first time in like 15 years after seeing the post about it here. Fun movie, good 90s scifi.
Hot take: this movie is actually **ripe ** for a reboot/re-imagining. You could really lean into the "impossible white man" action hero trope and dissect the psyche of the kind of person who actually finds that fantasy appealing.
If they do reboot it they should really cast against type. Not a young muscular action star but rather someone at the tail end of middle age you could see working a dead end unfulfilling white collar job who's probably thought more than once about coming in with a semi auto and going full joker. Think Michael Douglas in Falling Down. I'd suggest Bob Odenkirk but "Nobody" kinda ruined that one.
Lmao they already remade it in 2012! Robocop too around the same time.

Yeah, I commented on this in another thread...the 2012 remake has genuinely got to be one of the most shallow and forgettable movies ever produced. It really has absolutely nothing to say or do with the premise, at all. The Robocop reboot is also a failure...but I do feel like there was some kind of an attempt there that was stymied by the studio.
i watched it like 2 nights ago to remember how bad it was and boy, its bad
speaking of fun 80/90s Arrhnode movies, my enjoyment of The Running Man (1987) is totally ruined ever since I found out that the lead actress, the fiery Latina with the accent, María Conchita Alonso, is a mega Gusano. When Chavez was in power, she was appearing all over right wing media.
