I regret to inform hexbear that Blumenthal has always had an extremely cringe writing style, he's just got terrible content now instead of focused anti-imperialist stuff.

lol it's true. And a decent percentage of the time their unhinged-sounding stuff (not the reactionary shit, just the "they're out to get us" stuff) is basically accurate, just presented in the least-convincing way possible.

This is why my favorite style of leftist journalism is the style that stays pretty ideological. Save the interesting stuff for an actual book or a thesis, Marxist journalism should be "here's an action being taken by the capitalists, here's the worker movement that's countering, and here's the historical context of this situation". When you start diving off into gangstalking or personal vendetta, you lose the thread and the message of your article vaporizes itself.

I feel like there is a time for professional sounding journalism, especially when going up against these types of things. You don't do yourselves any favors if you sound unhinged. Even their older website gives me weird vibes in its design. Idk what it is.

Better than most "sleek" socialist websites that are mostly whitespace and some completely meaningless article about what "Dora the Explorer can teach us about recapturing the spirit of revolution"

They were some of the most vocal anti-imperialists for a while. Well, at least vocal and with a general base of support (I never got into Dore, but I did enjoy some Grayzone stuff).

It's really annoying, because they have some good stuff like this interspersed with COVID denial and other crank shit. Even that article is apparently written by a dude who literally wrote a book on Chemtrails.

Anything written by communists in other countries. Party newspapers are always a good start. Especially if you're trying to read about international events.

Check party papers for their breakdown of the situation in the county and check big international outlets like Telesur or CGTN, for more broad news. Granma is a good source for Cuban news. For any nation with a communist party in power, they'll usually release statements that summarize their positions.

Blumenthal is a piece of shit, but watching the left cheer for the FBI (the freaking FBI!) when they raided Trump was something I thought I'd never see. It's like the chuds cheering for Che Guevara when he breaks in and nationalizes their machine parts shop.

That's what I'm saying. I'm not on Twitter, so I didn't see "the left" cheering for the FBI. I'm pretty sure even the left alt-media figures he comes in contact with reaffirmed an anti-FBI stance. I'm sure plenty of liberals cheered for the FBI, but they're liberals. I can yell at them to be other than what they are over the internet, or I could do something useful with my life.

You do realize that the real left in the US doesn't spend all day on Twitter, right? These tweets are just disinformation to make people believe that the US left is Bernie. AOC and Breadtube. The US left is anarchist transwomen organizing mutual aid food drives, folks out doing political education for union organizing and ex marines who've been fucked over by the DoD teaching people how to shoot a rifle. Some of the people on this site really need to touch grass.

            the real left in America

lol. lmao even. As someone looking in from outside, what fucking left? Thomas does have a point that the socialist (not Soc dem chauvinist) left in the US makes up maybe 5% of the population, and has basically no organized base to speak of. There might be something to this theory that the feeling of powerlessness and frustration you all feel is being vented to the few things you can actually effect (marginal, also powerless, leftist outlets and figures in another “left faction”)

I see much more vitriol in these sectarian type threads than I do in discussions about Liberals.

There is no fucking message because what Blumenthal is selling here is absolutely nothing new as it relates to the left in the US, and instead an attempt to launder the reputation of a fascist right wing movement. Mar-a-lago was either an FBI cleanup operation to save some asses, or just the US deep state duking it out a la Yankees v Cowboys circa 70-80s. It means nothing for the left because the left is going to be targeted, blood drawn if necessary, regardless of what happens to the Cheeto in Chief. Why is Bluementhal so bent on defending downright fascists like Tulsi Gabbard and reactionaries like Dore? If you understand that, then you understand the opportunism of the Grayzone crowd, and then the history of the Grayzone crowd makes sense, and then it should make sense to you that Max Blumenthal has in fact not changed one bit

Tulsi spoke out about the US funding ISIS to fight Assad and was basically banished from US media. Dore just has misinformed takes about things that are kinda radlib.

I don't see anything wrong with calling out the CIA controlled "left".

Banished from the media = hosting Tucker Carlson's show on Fox News, Carlson himself being a noted CIA applicant who was in Nicaragua during Iran-Contra. Or do you think the CIA only has their men in black on one side of the political spectrum?

Dan Bongino was calling the Ukraine war a mistake on his radio show today, should I start waxing poetic about him? What exactly do you think political opportunism is?

How is it political opportunism? She doesn't have a future in politics anymore. So going on Fox News is an inherent bad thing? What if no one else is willing to give her air time? I see no evidence of full grift ALA Yeonmi Park.

Or do you think the CIA only has their men in black on one side of the political spectrum?

I doubt the CIA likes being called out for funding terrorism.

If she is a right wing grifter like you're claiming she would have prominent roles on right wing media, not just being interviewed because she said stuff that makes liberals look bad.

How is it political opportunism? She doesn’t have a future in politics anymore.

Yet somehow she keeps landing all these gigs like speaking at CPAC after being pretty vocal about her support for shit like what Desantis is doing down in FL to the queer community

I doubt the CIA likes being called out for funding terrorism.

Really makes you wonder why she endorsed Biden then

If she is a right wing grifter like you’re claiming she would have prominent roles on right wing media, not just being interviewed because she said stuff that makes liberals look bad.

Not being a grifter is when you switch positions when it is politically and financially expedient for you, like voting for Biden and then endorsing Desantis's policies against queer people in FL, and end up being a speaker at CPAC 22.

Tulsi stans on Hexbear in 2022, lol

One of the highlights of my political life was watching the video in 2020 when Jimmy Dore realized that Bernie was a fraud and that the whole thing had been a lie to get leftists onto the Democrat plantation. I laughed and laughed and laughed. Jimmy, he turned over your donations once to the DNC, why were you surprised to see him do it a second time? After they cheated him out of the nomination both times? Oh, Jimmy.
