Why would Russia blow up their own pipeline if they can just shut it off or put it on “maintenance” again ?
Today the Baltoc pipeline was opened that connects Poland to Denmark and Norway. The pipeline travels south of the Island of Gotland, and is not far away from the southern explosion. It's a veiled threat that if they can blow up Nord Stream, they can blow up the Baltic Pipeline.

NATO nations have been running extra drills with focus on anti-sub activities in the Baltic the past two weeks also, with nearly hourly patrols of Russia’s Baltic fleet. It is not subtle at all who did this. If Russia wanted the gas to Europe shut off it can flip a switch, blowing up the pipeline isn’t really necessary
It would be more embarrassing if Russia managed it during a NATO exercise specifically designed to stop that.

The helicopters seem like something that would be there to observe for any potential Russian vessel or aircraft that would discover their operation.

Could the plane that flew the full pipe length have been the delivery vehicle for divers that performed the mission?
Seems odd to fly the full pipe length like that, unless you're doing it because the exact location of the mission isn't decided upon until during the mission itself based on the movements of other vessels, russia, potential allies that might notice, etc etc. You could fly the length of the pipe and can pick your delivery at any point.
Somewhat related, I saw a naval ship by the southeast coast of Sweden a few weeks ago, larger than anything the Swedish navy has, and a helicopter in the area. Didn't take any pictures unfortunately
There's some thought that the explosives were placed earlier, so it might be the dude with the big red plunger box, or just making sure it all happens correctly.
Honestly there are so many non Russian states with an interest in blowing the pipes, (Poland, Turkey, Saudi, Ukraine etc etc) that I'd be significantly less sus if there wasn't a US recon helicopter wandering around.

The Nordstream 2 pipeline is super important. All pipelines are. They deliver energy, and energy is political power.
It was going to make Europe dependent on Russia, and the unelected government in DC can't have that. Europe might get ideas like they don't need NATO, or antagonizing Russia isn't in their interest. Even fucking Donald Trump got Merkel to agree to build a gas terminal to receive American natural gas. Biden cancelled it, obviously, because fuck everything that man ever did.
It's the Mackinder Thesis. America cannot allow Europe and Asia to grow together. Because we need to conquer the globe! Like it's a game of Risk! The goal is to destroy all the other armies and put your troops in every single territory! But in Risk it's plastic pieces. In our world, it's real.
But by forcing the matter, Washington has driven Russia even further into the arms of Chinese industry and technology, which in many areas matches (or even exceeds) European ones, and with better economies of scale.

Yeah, but despite their sabre rattling the US can't traditionally take on China or Russia. But despite its industrial strength (the bit the US wants to carve up for itself) Europe is weak. Full of competing interests and alligances that can be exploited. No real unified military beyond what they already control via NATO. Dependent on Russia for energy (which the US has now severed) and even big nations like France are heavily dependent on their exploitation of Africa, which the US has also just spent the last decade dramatically increasingly their influence, military and intelligence presence in.
To cannibalize hemorrhaging European industry. Very short term solution for the inevitable crisis of capital the US too will face
