Apparently the democratic party sucks but we should vote for them anyway and it's your fault if democrats lose.

It's accurate to say that the neoliberalism of the Democratic Party has been creating and exacerbating conditions that fuel right-wing engines. But at certain times — which definitely include the next two weeks, through Election Day on Nov. 8 — electoral battles come to a decisive fork in the road. We will be living with the consequences of this crossroads for the rest of our lives.

What's their plan for restoring abortion rights? What's the plan for voting rights? What's the plan for protecting trans people right now? What's the plan for a living wage? What's the plan for net zero carbon in 10 years? What's the plan for convincing millennials and gen z that their grandchildren will be able to survive on the surface of this planet? What's the plan for housing the growing homeless population? What's the plan for healthcare as a universal right? What's the plan for ending inflation while achieving full employment?

The real gaslighter is someone that tells me to support a party whose leadership endorses pro life candidates against a backdrop of Roe v Wade being overturned. The real gaslighter is Nancy Pelosi saying we need a strong republican party every time she appears in public. Good news Nancy, you're about to get your wish!

funny how those times always coincide with elections isn't it?

Imagine being the fucking loser that draws all these conclusions and makes all these observations, but the crux isn't "wow, we need to fuckin do something drastic here" but was instead "vote blue or you're a fascist"

The left is asked to unite with the Democrats, but never are Democrats asked to unite with the left.

That lib can fuck off. I already did my part. The moment I got my ballot, I voted down the line. If I couldn't write in a candidate's name I crossed out both candidates and wrote in Robert Mueller. When ballot measures only allowed a yes or no, I crossed those out and wrote Robert Mueller. If we get him elected we can stop Mango Mussolini.

With how important the left apparently is to the likelihood of democratic success, maybe they should throw the left the occasional bone?

They have the parliamentarian and the court. Interfering with that institution would damage its legitimacy and it's already illegitimate so we need to just let the supreme court do whatever it wants, in order to protect the institutions and the norms. Ultimately it's pointless to vote because these unelected officials will not approve any reforms to the system but it's still the most important election of our lives and you need to :vote:

The Dem gubernatorial candidate in my state is in danger of losing what should be an easy race, and all of her policy positions are basically "I'm gonna keep doing all the same shit that has brought us to this shitty point" which is so on brand for Dems

The Repub and independent candidates are bootlicking demons

    MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER

why is it the most important election ever? Because the “fascist” republicans might gain power? The ones that you “reach across the aisle” and placate to constantly, the ones you have shifted all your policies towards and caved to? If the democrats really truly think conservatives are fascists then they shouldn’t be cavorting with them whatsoever and should adopt a militant stance instead of their waffling conciliatory horseshit.

I really don’t see why it’s that important to chose between a fascist and a fascist-adjacent collaborator with nearly identical policies. In fact, right now it seems to be the Dems who are the most in favor of WW3, increasing police funding, attacking China, arming fascists worldwide, rounding up homeless & continuing US imperialism.

Republicans are fascists but somehow democrats are not. Democrats just "aren't living up to their potential" or are "a bit disappointing" . It doesn't matter that democrats have headed the invasions of several countries and have bombed/drone-striked/sanctioned millions of people in other countries. In fact this is so unimportant the author doesn't even mention it! It doesn't matter that democrats are subservient to corporate donors, like republicans, and have propped up fascist states that are kind to capital, like republicans, they're different! This is because the democrats were nice enough to vulgarize and appropriate movements until they were semi-compatible with capitalist exploitation! Oh and I almost forgot all that the democrats have done to help.... and when they..... that was really great! I'm casting my ballot right now (I voted for Hillary to purge myself of the cardinal sin of not voting in 2016) :xi-vote:

Yucky Gaslighter : “Years and years ago it may have been an acceptable tactic to organize a people’s ticket of solid worker and revolutionary credentials and arm it with an ideal platform—only to be defeated by a mud-slinging opportunist-warlord, demonstrably inferior, scum-willing pig. Then pass out a pamphlet to explain to the people how the system has failed them, or speak it in Pershing Square—or, years ago, in the Campus Hall. Today it is not a tactic—it’s counterrevolution[…] The effect has been reformism rather than revolution. When any election is held it will fortify rather than destroy the credibility of the power brokers. When we participate in this election to win, instead of disrupt, we’re lending to its credibility and destroying our own. With all the factors of control over the electoral process in the hands of the minority ruling class, the people’s party can always be made to seem isolated, unimportant, even extraneous. If these tactics still give the appearance of revolution to some after decades of miscarriage, we are justified in replacing them as vanguard[…] Stupidity is not unknown to our long-range political policy makers. Participation in electoral politics organized by the enemy state—after recognizing that the whole process must be discredited as a conditional step into revolution, and particularly participation that tends to authenticate this process—is the opposite of revolution. It’s a tactic for the ultra-rightists. With history as a guide we could never make such monumental errors” ( Blood in My Eye , p. 25-26, 28).

Liberal Realist : Omg silly lefty if we keep propping up the fascist state eventually the kind blue corporate puppets will beat out the mean red corporate puppets and they'll give us all of our rights out of the goodness of their hearts. People in other countries don't even exist because I can't see them!
