I thought this guy was some kind of unhinged liberal politician but he's apparently a US historian. And this huge push to felate Zelenksy or else you're a traitor is some next level shit that I haven't seen about any other foreign leader.

Most liberals hold Netanyahu in some contempt, and a decent amount of them hold some weird, sometimes contradictory thoughts regarding Israel and Palestine since the more high profile shit that went on this year (but at least some think of Palestinians as being cruelly mistreated).

How many even consider Russian soldiers human currently?

everyone is getting desperate to play out their political fantasies as the reality of the post-covid new normal sets in. Western liberals are trying to reenact the last time they did something good and useful, which was defeating Hitler (even then they couldn't accomplish that on their own lol). So Putin has to be literally Hitler and Zelensky has to stand in for little innocent smol bean Poland or Czechoslovakia so liberals can say "never again" and feel good about themselves for "standing up to fascism" like their less pathetic ancestors did.

Except of course this isn't about fascism, it's about the world hegemon containing a geopolitical competitor. But with Trump permanently scarring all those liberals and making them lose faith in American democracy or whatever, this propaganda angle has proven very effective amongst those people who would probably claim they are "against war" only 4 years ago:

"Public opinion is turning against liberalism, fascists and filthy commies are among us, aren't you worried? Luckily, President Biden has a solution, support my war and we can dunk on all those authoritarians. Dunk on trump, dunk on tucker Carlson, dunk on the tankie that was mean to you on twitter"

Thus liberals believe this is IT. The Great Crusade Against Fascism, Part 2, brought to you by President Joe Biden. Your grandfather stormed the beaches, you can storm twitter. Liberals are already self-mythologizing themselves (with a little help from the state department) and the war isn't even over yet. So if you sensibly don't buy into this delusion they think you're a traitor because they are in a TOTAL WAR AGAINST FASCISM (as part of the Posting Corps ofc)

When the war in Ukraine began in late February,

the 'war' began with the 2014 CIA coup to steal farmland via IMF debt

Every place in every corner of the world has something an American imperialist might value extracting.

But I cannot, for the life of me, imagine how destroying every last inch of infrastructure between the Donbas and Berlin benefits Western Capital. Might as well claim the English blew up the Nordstream 2 in order to extract natural gas from Russia.

But who is the US going to bring in to rebuild infrastructure in an active warzone?

I mean, Halliburton seemed happy enough to take paychecks twenty years ago.

That said, very little in Iraq ever actually got rebuilt. Most of what exists today was simply salvaged and guarded.

This is actually what I mean. Americans will take money to rebuild, and whether it gets done or not, the money will flow

The money will flow but only inside the US. The exploitation of Ukraine - particularly Eastern Ukraine - will be far more difficult now than it was a decade ago simply because they've demolished everything in the country a Western actor would need to control it.

In the same way that our invasion of Iraq pushed the country directly into the arms of Iran and our conquest of Afghanistan strengthened regional ties with Pakistan, this war in Ukraine will be far more geopolitically beneficial to its surrounding neighbors than to a far-flung colonial power.

And if any of those 8 who didn't clap articulated legitimate reasons why, you'd just label them Putin puppets. Liberal media is basically r/politics
