looked up 2020 models of some crossovers (Rav4 hybrid and Subaru Crosstrek) and they both have curb weights of 3755 lbs and 3117 lbs respectively
this average is likely being skewed pretty badly by some terrible heavy models that are labelled that way, US vehicle regulations are really bad
