I have to imagine the Chinese are just confused at all this.

:xinternet: Hey Americans, a weather balloon accidentally flew over, our bad, we apolog-

:frothingfash: :live-tucker-reaction: :biden-alert: WE ARE TAKING THIS NATIONAL EMERGENCY VERY SERIOUSLY AND WILL MEET THIS THREAT TO OUR NATIONAL SECURITY WITH APPROPRIATE FORCE.

I'm told that only one F35 crashed during this operation. Luckily, after taking out this incredibly dangerous weapon of the very dangerous evil enemy state, we can easily destroy them since lmao Communists are cowards and don't know how to fight and are very weak. Onwards!

Yeah, but you can't trust the US' official stat releases. It probably looked like the flaming airfield after the aliens attack it in Independence Day.

It'd involve cornfields, feeemales with le daddy issues, and :grillman: looking up in the sky with an incredulous offended expression in slow motion while thumping sounds and Hans Zimmer music plays.

Lol, only Canadian and US outlets are calling this a "spy balloon", international media just say it's a balloon or are going with China's explanation that it's a weather balloon.

this is america's way of preparing its population for war against the chinese, but it's also a way to see which of us are rolling our eyes at it. we'll be purged when the time comes for not hooting and cheering at this little pep rally

Casus belli machine needs a tune up if we wanna gonna get a high end product like the Gulf of Tonkin, Lusitania, or blowing up the Maine. But I think it still works well enough to meet our needs. The news around this is Dean Scream mid-2000s levels of terrifying disingenuousness and stupidity. I fully expect that a chain of events is already in motion that will lead to the deaths of at least 1 million people.

The defense official said that Saturday afternoon "was the first available opportunity to successfully bring down their surveillance balloon in a way that would not pose a threat to the safety of Americans, which are military assets."
