This has never been even remotely true. Just because a thoroughly babyfied generation of adults can't imagine consuming media for adults doesn't mean that media isn't there. It just means we've normalized grown-ups primarily watching children's movies and reading YA novels

Weird, I wonder if anyone wrote about the tendency for production to concentrate like this :thinkin-lenin:

Because most media for adults now is boring, soulless, gritty and depressing bullshit. People get that shit all day at work.

I dislike labeling things as "for adults" and "for kids". It's limiting and takes the magic out of life. Most things "for adults" are immature in a different way that bugs me.

It just comes across as desperately trying too hard to be taken seriously.

Adults finally embracing whimsy is one of the only good things about modern media. That doesn't make them baby brained, it makes them honest.

I especially hate the condescending "this entertainment is for babies" (their word choice) attitude if something isn't Gambo.

Most things “for adults” are immature in a different way that bugs me.

"Mature" big budget "prestige" entertainment would have been marketed directly toward horny teenagers decades ago.

Can we maybe make the occasional adult film that has some risque shit in it now and again?

I'd be down for some of those if I could be sure they weren't made by creeps like David Cage.

His nonconsensual creeping on pre-transition Elliot Page, up to and including (CW: sex pest creeping)

          spoiler

fabricating pornography of him and showing it to party guests

          is downright disturbing.
