Like that we see a bit more civilization spreading about, one of the biggest drawbacks in the first game was how barren it was so more NPC villages would be welcome
Super curious about the civvies getting tooled up for combat sections, wonder if we're getting some Hyrule Warriors going, or dare I hope, some more robust town building/defense events.
Weird to see Zelda picking up where Banjo kazooie Nuts and Bolts left off
Lego Racers was the most influential game of all time and we were all blind to it
one of the biggest drawbacks in the first game was how barren it was so more NPC villages would be welcome
It worked for the vibe and what they were going for in that one game, I wouldn’t want to see it twice in a row though
dungeons are back lets goo. hopefully theres more than the pitiful four(the divine beasts were basically dungeon substitutes) we got with botw
I liked the small dungeons (shrines) on a replay! It provided a way to have fast travel on a big map while also providing challenges and not taking you away from the overworld for too long. The divine beasts served as dungeons, but you couldn't really exit while you were in one, while the game was built around doing whatever you want in any order you want when you want. They definitely gave me a claustrophobic feeling. The shrines on the other hand, you can just leave and come back whenever if you didn't feel like finishing them right now. It was just jarring on release because we were used to Zelda games having vast and complex dungeons to solve.
Although the game could have also played without fast travel, just using the towers and forcing you to move around on your horse because the landscape was actually very cool to explore.
the shrines just felt so dull in comparison to the old dungeons. probably at least partly bc they all share the exact same look as well as the worst music in the series (imo)
the entire game has some of the worst music ive ever heard passed as music. I get that its all "environmental" but all I can ever hear is a cat just hitting keys on a keyboard randomly. It's irritating.
i can understand not liking the style they were aiming for, though i personally only find the shrine music outright irritating. i do think there's a lot to like in the soundtrack though - i'm particularly partial to the rito village theme(s), i think reprising the dragon roost island music was a brilliant idea that really captured that "cozy but tragic decline" feel
in general i'd say the music did its job more than i felt it failed at it buuuut i get that it's not for everyone.
I think it’s cool they put in big thicc lad ganondilf to balance out the twink link
Cant wait to see this shit barely run on switch hardware. Botw already had some pretty annoying lag problems
If Nintendo hadn’t figured out how to optimize this after 3-4 years I’ll laugh and laugh…
Link rides a mech he created. He has an army of villagers wearing buckets as helmets. He rides a miniature rocket into the sky. Looks like they even put in a scalie race. This game has it all.
I’m gonna say odds even that we get playable Zelda, maybe in short sections scattered through the game.
Yo anyone catch thar 3 headed dragon? That guy was in the first game on NES! Love to see some classic monsters come back
The modern requirement to have everything be voice acted is kind of a huge anchor weighing down games. I appreciated the Zelda series' stubborn refusal to give a hoot about it.
I really don't think the problem is voice acting. I think the problem is games (and anime) paying fuck all for actors. They get the cheapest and worst possible actors for it and wonder why the outcome gets complained about.
If you put some real genuinely good actors in any of these roles, they will deliver. Ghibli demonstrates this over and over again with their English localisations by actually getting proper actors and they do the job great.
This game is kind of a combination of both worlds, videogames and anime, and it suffers the same problems of anime VA localisations.
botw in the original japanese is far better*, idk why the english voice acting is 90s dub quality but it's painful in comparison
*'m not a subs over dubs weirdo or anything, the dub just sucks
Whatever happened to the idea that we'd play as Zelda in the next game? I miss that idea. This looks fun though.
Zelda seems as wet and boring as she was in the first game though.
Like a limp noodle. Sad. Wet. Miserable. A piece of paper you spilled your drink on.
The English voice acting was a major part of that issue previously and probably still is.

I like the music has nods to a Link to the Past. Their animation style is unique and vibrant. A good mix of game play styles. Little concerned about the airdropping like it was fortnight but AFAIK these are single player games so it " shouldn't " be an issue.
It is time for me to play the first one
someone tell me how to emulate Switch games pls

Read my post and also the guide linked by KobaCumTribute. Let me know if things still aren't clear and I (and probably others) will be glad to help.
Also generally speaking CEMU (the Wii U emulator) is better for playing Breath of the Wild fyi.
i want to play on my switch, but this is a great resource for if i get my PC running again! thank you comerade!
