the name was changed and they're now "Temporary Migrant Holding Facilities". that should fix everything

EDIT: I think it's "Overflow" instead of "Holding" but I don't have the stomach to look it up

      Temporary

"This is the deal - it's just temporary. Temporaro. You just have to sit tight for about another year and a half when I have an electiono. If my party wins - then we will provide potential access to a possible road forward if such a situation is feasible. But - of course - then we got the 2026 mid-terms though so I wouldn't plan on the democrats doing anything before that. And after that we've got 2028 to consider too. Sorry, but you're not Whi— I mean Ukrainian - you know."

According to this website there are about 25k migrants in ICE/CBP detention right now, and previous reporting has indicated that about 1/3 of migrants who get detained are minors. Not all of the facilities that migrants are detained in have literal cages, but I'm sure that many do, so to answer your question, YES.

edit: and it just occurred to me that limiting yourself to ICE/CBP is pretty naive, since we know that Mexican authorities also run detention centers and some are run on military bases. I don't know if there's comprehensive reporting to show if the total number of detained migrants is trending up or down or what.

Didn't a bunch of them die in a fire last month?

Edit: Yup. Not in the US, but US-backed.

I believe the average time spent in immigration facilities is lower and conditions where children are left without beds, blankets, or toiletries are less common. So the cages are now slightly more humane 🥰🥰🥰

Claim: The kids are still in cages

    Rating: False

The Biden administration reclassified the cages as temporary immigrant overflow facilities. As such no children are in cages today.
