Uh wasn't Charles Manson literally trying to bring about an apocalyptic race war?

      Yes.

      I'll leave this here..

      Helter Skelter (scenario)

Appearing in a 2009 documentary, former Manson follower Catherine Share said the following:

When the Beatles' White Album came out, Charlie listened to it over and over and over and over again. He was quite certain that the Beatles had tapped in to his spirit, the truth—that everything was gonna come down and the black man was going to rise. It wasn't that Charlie listened to the White Album and started following what he thought the Beatles were saying. It was the other way around. He thought that the Beatles were talking about what he had been expounding for years. Every single song on the White Album, he felt that they were singing about us. The song 'Helter Skelter'—he was interpreting that to mean the blacks were gonna go up and the whites were gonna go down.

Ok, yes, sure. He wanted to set off a race war with a series of high profile killings that he planned to pin on minorities. He believed that this race war was inevitable and that he was simply launching it on his terms. And he came to this realization by repeatedly ingested music from a bunch of British Libs. Fine. I'll concede that point.

But that doesn't technically make him a white nationalist, because he never explicitly says "I am a white nationalist". And even if he did maybe he was joking? Who can say. Literally nobody. Nobody can say anything about anyone's intent ever.

I thought it was to rule the black people who he believed would win the race war. You know, once he and his followers emerged from the desert bunker he was going to lead them to when the time came

Yeah, I don't see it mentioned often that Manson got his cult-adjacent start in pimping, and that the structure of the "family" was largely centered around relatively normal organized crime methods

            CW SV

IIRC, young girls were almost exclusively the demographic he "recruited" from, so to speak. They were the ones he'd really try to prey on the minds of, and then they served as combination members and sex slaves whatever the trafficked version of a sex worker is called

Personally, I'd bet he just liked pseudo-profound riffing and got a high off of people hanging on his every shitty word. I mean, he probably believed a lot of the things he said, but I figure the primary purpose was to feed his ego and, in a cult-structure sense, provide an unbelievable element to performatively (or genuinely, but it'll break your mind) believe as a token of faith

his plan was roughly. Incite a race war which black people win and then to trick them into being his slaves because he thought black people were dumb enough to fall for that

A few years ago I heard some MSNBC jerkoff historian use the word "dispositive" and I was going to google it in annoyance. But Ari Melber did me a solid. He asked the jerkoff to define it and he said it meant "determinative". I love words but c'mon - determinative is fancy enough. No need to over-gild the goddamned lily.

And now years later - idiot asshats are using it too.

Now, now - before all the facts are in - you're rushing to judgment.

Way back in the beforetimes - if a character in a tv series like Breaking Bad had a swastika on their neck - they were a Nazi. It didn't need to be explained to the audience. They knew. But things are different now. I've never posted anything about Tracey because he's such a colossal dipshit that it's very low-hanging fruit. But "large Nazi tattoos on a Nazi mass shooter murder aren't magically dispositive" has actually become a right-wing POV. How It's horror-comedy but it's nearly all horror.

To liberals Nazis are never Nazi enough to actually be Nazis. There's always some Nazi thing they haven't done enough of.

It seems like liberals can't aknowledge the existence of fascism in a contemporary setting. Maybe it's because recognising this would imply that one should ally with the left against the nazis and that alliance would be ideologiske unpalatable.

Leftist: "We have an emerging and dangerous Nazi movement. What are you going to do about it?"

Liberal: "Vote. People need to vote."

Leftist: "Voting is not the solution to every problem. And there 18 months until the next election. What are you going to do about it now?"

Liberal: "Biden will give a speech."

Leftist: "No. Do. What are you going to do about it?"

Liberal: "Democrats are in the minority in the house. We can't do anything now. So - vote. Everybody needs to vote."

In 2021 I had so many convos in r/politics like that. Not about Nazism but about packing the court. I wanted to [redacted].

It made me feel like an insane person. Eventually in September or October - I just gave up. Shortly before that senator C00ns - a senator from Biden's own state - gave a speech about the filibuster. That is to say - in favor of it.

Nazis may only be recognized by libs in hindsight, so that after they are dealt with or not dealt with libs can act with extreme Epimethian afterthought and retroactively either shed a tear that they didn't do enough to stem the tide or claim credit for what leftists did with guns.
