It's amazing that he flew under the radar for so long when he was saying shit like this in 2011 https://twitter.com/CornelWest/status/23848928873021440

Really feeling that 2024's political dichotomy is normal people vs unhinged people. Everybody but Biden is gonna be unhinged, even the "moderate" 1% polling reps because it's unhinged to be campaigning when that unpopular, so Biden, especially with his incumbency, will be the default "normal" candidate, and amid all the memery, "this is all chaos and I just want 'normalcy'" might be the prevailing sensibility in November. I'd argue that 2022 implies this.

      >looking for a new president

      >ask the polling attendant if the candidates are normal or unhinged

      >she doesn't understand >pull out illustrated diagram explaing what is normal and what is unhinged

      >she laughs and says "they're good candidates sir"

      >go to vote

      >they're all unhinged

How :joker-troll: is it that Biden is the least unhinged, then?

I don’t disagree but the election is an eternity away. I still think it’s a safe bet trump would have won in 20 if not for Covid and that only happened 7-8 months before the general election…. If it was today I think Biden would win against trump but it’s entirely possible something could happen that makes the rust belt (the only voting block in the country that matters lol) want trump back

West called Brand a “progressive gem”, this isn’t a case of overreacting.

The host is an anti-vax reactionary who caters to the right. This isn’t a good hill to die on.

The audience is a bunch of anti-establishment goofs who knows something is wrong, but can't correctly express it. Until we have a supermajority of popular support and institutional power, we ought to try and win these people, instead of being self-righteous losers.

Find me a clip of West as antivax; if not fuck off.

Yeah some of these folks can be picked up and brought around, and we need all the help we can get. Recognizing there's something wrong is a huge first step. Libertarians who actually give a shit about people can sometimes be brought around, for example.

He also describes himself as a "non-Marxist socialist" which is a super red flag. He sees religion as a more powerful tool for social change than materialism which is objectively counter-revolutionary.

I used to like him on TikTok, has some good ideas in his head and can be good at articulating certain topics to a broad audience, but I feel like lately I see him spending his time on irrelevant BS.

Idk things feel bad in America so might he might as well waste his time with the people's party. Since there's no actual left wing movement in this country I'm a little hesitant to criticize peoples' cope sources, like realistically what could he be doing that's more productive lol

My friend, what is wrong with a legendary black socialist philosopher using a platform with 5 million subscribers to launch his presidential run?

ohhhh boy I wasn't familiar with this guy and I don't think I will become familiar with this guy. Sorry but that's a fucking clown response. I hate people who do that shit. Oh yeah let me just cleave off as much information as I can, just strip it down to the absolute bone so this actual conversation about a real person can become a pointless theoretical question. Oh and let's make you sound vaguely racist. Get fucking lost

I used to watch his tiktoks. But he's def got some bad takes. He fully believes a way forward is white leftists need to convince white conservatives to be leftists. Not the worst take but also leads to some really bad moves.

It's tough to believe otherwise when you're in some Midwest town that's 99.8% :lmayo: . It's the only leftist political project you can imagine that doesn't require either moving somewhere else or remaining totally online
