'I'm not going back and fight' - US mercenaries say war in Ukraine is more dangerous than in Iraq or Afghanistan - The Daily Beast

-This is my third war I've been in and this one is by far the worst. You will be crushed by artillery, tanks. Last week, a bomb was dropped from an airplane next to us, about 300 meters away. This is horrifying shit.

  • You can't hide anywhere. When we went out on missions, I thought we were all going to die. A helicopter will not fly for you, no one will save you when you are surrounded. When I got home, I had time to think things over. I came to the conclusion that I'm not going to go back and fight.

Like any bully, American soldiers will only fight people smaller than them (yet they still manage to lose, lol). When facing an actual fair fight with another superpower, whoops all bombs.

Turns out war is a lot less fun when you're fighting an actual military instead of bombing civilians

      If I didn't want to die, I wouldn't fight in a war I didn't have to.

This is my third war I've been in and this one is by far the worst.

The only wars this person could ever be old enough to be in were Iraq and Afghanistan, so this is the only war where this person is facing a conventional army, and not a resistance that struggled with getting materiel and without higher-level leadership.

Turns out they don't like war when it's fought on somewhat "even" terms.

Wait are you telling me when you die in a war you die in real life?

Waaaaah it's not fair that the other side has air support, artillery, armoured vehicles, military training, and an industrial base that can supply ammunition, fuel, and all the other supplies needed to fight a modern war! We're supposed to be the ones using overwhelming air supremacy to vaporize sandel-wearing goat herders! Russians are supposed to be mindless orks zerg rushing our killzones! Waaaaah I miss my special kill everything laser and helicopter delivered burger King waaaaaaah! pit pit pit

This is basically the equivalent of that one kid getting mad because you didn't follow the arbitrary rules of his game (that were clearly designed to push everything in his favor)

I'd bust a gut laughing if somehow, some way a bunch of these mercs get the Benedict Arnold treatment in the most backwards rube Goldberg manner

Nah. Never happen. But I'm sure it would happen if one of them served with Russia or Wagner.

And they'd flaunt the prosecution in front of everyone. Because it's all about blatantly advertising there's one mode of justice for them and a different one for us.

Are you talking about the guy from Texas, Russell Bentley?

If so, he was there since near the beginning when it all started in 2014. I think it's safe to say he's never coming back lol

If a war ever breaks out with China I think he'd go there since he's a communist

No, there was some former u.s army merc that managed to cross the lines and get himself on Russian prime time TV like a month or few ago.

Tex is in the same boat as Lancaster and others at this point

It's advertised as a development project somewhere in the middle of nowhere Russia and was supposed to be a place for people who felt like the West had abandonned their traditional values by doing gender and gay stuff. It's not really getting much traction IRL because it's pretty obviously just a grift, but the people on here loved the concept of the self-funding gulag.

That sounds mind bogglingly stupid. I hope they do build it, thousands of chuds move in, and then they all die of grift-related complications such as lack of utilities and food.

If you're from the richest country on earth and march into a war zone for money there is not a single experience you can have there that would cause me to have sympathy for you.
