I have tried to get into stardew valley a few times but never get far, too repetitive and slow at the beginning. Although maybe now I'll get gender euphoria from it and can coast through the grindyness? Might have to give it another shot, I loved harvest moon growing up and really want to love stardew valley.

Me having played Harvest Moon since the 00s, cocking my head at this comment cheems

The "grind" is part of the appeal imo, I am relaxed and in my lane and moisturised and vibing, watering my plants and feeding the animals then fucking off to the mines for hours. Equally the efficiency of a tight schedule as the joy of adhering to it every day.

Idk this is probably autism and adhd again kobeni-sweat

I just need more stimulation then when I was younger cheems I like the idea in theory but in practice my mind gets bored.

Legitimately the reason I hardly play one of my favorite games is because you need to listen to the audio and I can't have music on.

Understandable cheems one of the truly fascinating things about Stardew becoming popular is that Harvest Moon used to be incredibly niche for many reasons, such as the ones you state. If you need more brain stimulation it might not be for you, although Stardew is great to put on music or podcasts to!

tbh I think it's easier to get into for the first time with friends. I don't play a lot of games like Stardew, but working on the farm together is great. it's also just nice to be able to specialize in what you personally enjoy more. I like doing skull cavern runs (mines and volcano too), but think fishing is kind of boring lol, so with friends you can divide that stuff up

I am weird and enjoyed the farming and such, I just wasn't really interested in any of the relationship stuff :/ that's how much my autism/ace personality kills that kind of stuff

Was the same in Mass effect I play all those games as ace. I hate feeling like the fun police when discussing it sadness

I have like 800 hours in stardew and don't think you're being the fun police at all! everyone plays it differently and it's cool to hear what you like to do in it

I think my social anxiety affects some of it and a lot of relationship stuff I find too shallow for me in video games. I liked most of the stuff regarding the mechanics and such, the fishing even lol but I'm used to grinding out levels and such in games that a lot wouldn't so probably a bit of that I find relaxing? I dunno, when I've discussed my views with lib lesbians it kind of went badly, always made to feel like I had the wrong things to say.. Like I'm happy people get more out of it than me and part of me feels like I miss out on that stuff too, same as people seeking out stuff that they relate with as part of their identity and such but I can't help how I'm made y'know.

that's so shitty, sorry you had experiences like that. I can't imagine reacting that way over a game of all things

what's your favourite crop to grow?

I have around 20 hours in stardew, and god knows how many on the harvest moon games. Never touched the relationship stuff, never interested me either. Now that I'm older/more online I'm surprised anyone finds those to be a big part of the games, because they just aren't for me. Don't feel like the fun police :)
