Part of the article:

Explaining her surprising victory in a blog post, DiMezzo wrote: “I went into it expecting that I would lose the primary to a write-in candidate, because I didn’t think that so many voters were just… completely and totally oblivious about who they are voting for.

“Because the fact is that you didn’t bother. You trusted the system. You trusted the establishment. You trusted the party. You felt safe.

“You were sure that there must be some mechanisms in place to prevent from occurring exactly what just occurred.

“Your anger is misplaced if you direct it at me. Please listen. Your anger is with the system that has lied to you. Your anger is with the system that convinced you to believe in it, trust in it, and have faith in it, when it is completely and utterly broken.

“More than 4,000 people went into the voting booth on September 8 this week, and they all filled in the circle by my name despite knowing absolutely nothing about the person they were nominating to the most powerful law enforcement position in the county.

“That’s a level of recklessness of which any decent human being should be ashamed.”

seriously i like thinking about people this way. instead of like chuds or boomers or w/e maybe a map of where they are on the path of radicalization

Definitely although we also need to identify lost causes where resources are better spent radicalizing other people than continuing to waste time on someone too addled by brainworms for us to fix them

i mean if you have a list of other people to radicalize yeah. if youre like me and rarely talk to people just radicalize whoevers around you whenever. even if they dont, the ideas will be there. used to be an anti sjw type, all my brainworm riddled convos with cool people sped up my actual radicalization later, it weakens the brainworms even if you feel like no progress is being made.

Still a boss move, ngl, and the statement is good by itself, system is fucked.

The article I read said that the democrat she's running against is popular, so she's unlikely to win since the republicans aren't going to vote for her now that they've taken a minute to figure out who she is, lol. So she's just waking up people to how messed up the system is (and how dumb it is to vote for "your team" without knowing jack shit about the individual running) without the risk of an ancap actually running things, which would be bad. So I'd say this one is a win/win all around!

is an anarcho capitalist sheriff really somejow worse than a regular capitalist sheriff? cause.. i feel like im missing something here

does ancap ideology have something in it about murdering people being cool and good if you have a badge? (ngl i have no idea wtf ancaps think)

cause, anyone saying "fuck the police" as their platform in a sheriff election would be a decent option comparative to the status quo.. no?

I would see it as a good thing. In ancapistan the deputies need to insert a quarter in the radio to talk to dispatch.

Yeah I agree. Fuck ancaps but fuck democrats too and I don’t see any reason she’d be worse than an establishment democrat in this case, especially with a “fuck the police” platform.

I tend to think of ancaps being the type to just let people sink or swim on their own, so you know, not the best person to be in charge of the police. I support defunding the police and moving that funding to things like social services. The police are bad, but sometimes people call them because they really do need help and there's nobody else to call. Putting an ancap in charge of something that's supposed to be a public service seems bad to me. But who knows, maybe it'd be no worse than anyone else in charge.

yeah i dont disagree with this, i just think that if someones against the police, and has control over the police, it is better than having someone who is pro-police... since maybe the ancap in question would be open to moving funds away from her department and into other programs that would be better able to respond to the communities needs? idk

Considering the position is as a sheriff, I highly doubt their views on economic policy mean absolutely anything.

Don't get me wrong AnCap philosophy is super shallow and ill thought out, but I think the point she made is great. People vote on a brand. Propaganda. That's all it is. Scratch the surface and they haven't got a clue as to why they're voting for these particular representatives. This encourages people to do DD into elected representatives and actually get interested in policy - which I expect to work much more favorably towards left-wing politics.

I was gonna post about her last night after reading her AMA on r/politics, she's definitely a straight up libertarian/ancap with some poor understand of actual Anarchist theory
