They have the same hollow policies. The difference is that Pete isn’t a dying, demented old man. Not to mention that he did well in the early primary states.

Pretty sure it’s because of how badly Pete was polling with black people. Biden at least had that going for him. That and the fact he was Obama’s VP.
Note that they didn't care about black people specifically; it was more than Biden was the only candidate with a real, independent base of support. No other candidate (besides Bernie) had anything resembling a nationwide following. Had someone younger put together a halfway decent campaign they probably would have gotten the nod.
I think it’s also partially about the makeup of the states that vote on Super Tuesday. It’s mostly Southern states and black voters. Pete definitely wasn’t strong enough with that subset of voters to bet the farm on. If the Midwest voted on Super Tuesday instead, we might have Pete as the nominee.
Also I’m sure the DNC was concerned with Pete’s sexuality hurting him with the conservative voters they care so much about.
I think they thought Biden was the best non-Bernie candidate they had against Bernie and that was more important than beating Trump.
yup. obama could have endorsed biden at any point during the primary, if he was who they wanted. they panicked because of bernie.
Biden was the only one that could beat Bernie. That was literally the only thing they cared about this election
Lot of right answers in this thread. I'll also add that Biden probably wouldn't have played ball like Pete. You can't promise Biden power down the road because he's going to die and his career is just about over. Plus Biden wants this so bad he was probably willing to ride it out to the bitter end regardless.
Biden would’ve endorsed Sanders before allowing Mayo Pete to win.
^THIS Biden made it perfectly clear that he liked Bernie and was totes gonna play ball if Bernie got the nomination or even if Biden had to drop out. Which would have All but sealed Bernie’s win.
Major donors didn't like that Pete had only been a mayor of a small town, many politicians also felt like it was an insult to all they worked for. During the fall off of both Kamala and Booker who were early establishment favorites, and especially when Biden looked like he was sundowning too much to win, Klobuchar and Bloomberg became their pick.
Pete, even if he polled better with black people, was never going to be the establishment choice by virtue of the fact that he's a nobody.
Easier to buy Pete dropping out and endorsing Biden. It had to be somewhat believable to the normies
Pete really didn't have any path to beat Sanders after the first couple of states. He didn't do any campaigning, and while Biden didn't either, he had a lot more name recognition and good will with the idiots in the party.
Yeah that's a good point, didn't he basically put all the resources of his campaign into Iowa and maybe a couple other states? That's what I remember hearing at the time
