It would have been so fucking easy to throw the uncommitted movement a bone; the fact that they didn't is alarming. The very idea of letting even a single Palestinian speak at the convention is anathema to Democrats. With that single move they alienated a million+ primary voters because they would rather lose than let Palestinians speak.

Idk, i can't really see the nsdap letting a Jewish German speak at a party meeting, either. They know they've lost everyone who opposes mass murder, they're probably worried that they'd lose even more if the speaker went off script and started naming dead family members and the lockheed stockholders in the room who did the killing.

You can't give people the idea that the democrats faction of the state party can be pressured into doing good things, however small. That might encourage more public meddling in politics.

They allowed a police officer to speak but not a Palestinian.

They also insisted on hearing from a border patrol agent, Trump supporters, veterans, and billionaires

Did you know that the style of animation was supposed to mimic Rankin-Bass stop motion?

Knowing that they could not match the quality of other computer-animated films, the film was instead designed to imitate the look of stop motion. Cory Edwards cited Rankin-Bass as an inspiration and explained, "If we approach our look like that—photographed miniatures in stop motion—and if that nostalgia resonates with our audience as far as that look, then we're not going to shoot ourselves in the foot trying to put every freckle and hair on photoreal creatures.

That cop was assembled like Frank's monster using bundles of lean chicken preast and whey powder glued together soy protein isolate, raw milk, and raw honey. Twenty minutes before the performance the pumped the solution in to a. Pig suit and injected it with steroids, cocaine, and yeah idk i can't keep this up but that's a fucking sunday morning cartoon action figure someone covered in bronzer not a real person.

Do you have something going on in your basement that the rest of us need to know about to hear as little as possible about to maintain our plausible deniability?

Has this ”we like cops and soldiers too” thing ever actually worked for the Democrats? Seems like every election they trot out some fucking vet or cop on stage and it appeals to nobody.

What I really mean is ”does it work on people who'd vote for Republicans”, since that's who this stuff is clearly aimed at, and I'm guessing it doesn't and never has.

I think you misunderstand the point of these performances. When I was a liberal the appeal of these performances was that it gave me the reassurance that the republicans' attacks about the dems being unpatriotic were false. Well, not exactly a reassurance, because I'd always known that, but more so a reminder. It's propaganda for energising the liberal base. And it serves to tell the donor class that the Democrats are firmly committed to the bourgeois vision.

I get what you mean, because it's that thing that I've been unable to encapsulate into a single word or anything, but:

"Biden/Kamala is so right wing, there's no way the Republicans can accuse them of being a communist!"

Republicans call them a communist anyway

            "Ah! Well, nevertheless..."

I also do think that capturing Republican voters is that one white whale they've been chasing for a long time, though.

the dominant theory is if they weren't doing it they'd be losing even worse, because half their voting base is suburban center right liberals, and there is simply no way to activate or attract the nonvoting urban poor

Of course it does, their core voters fucking love cops and troops. They might make a little grumbling noise whenever a cop murders a black American, but just because the libs want better training for the cops so they can brutalize better and more efficiently, and they fucking adore troops because who else is gonna stop Chairman Ayatollah Putler Jong-Il from conquering the whole world??
