Trotskyists have an actual position that isn't class essentialist challenge (impossible)

Trots try to be on the right side of liberation struggle challenges (hard)

Trots trying not to become neo-cons challenge (extremely hard)

Trots trying not to lie about lenin's history of stalin challenge (impossible)

Trots having a position that isn't just 'the opposite of what stalin did' challenge (literally impossible)

no imma trot bash here, they're consistently shit in their ideology and even on Palestine most just bemoan how 'both sides bad'. 'Leninists' my ass.

i don't even like stalin that much but jesus christ its all they think about

Feel like they’re just annoying tbh to the point they’re endearing.

Real trots are harmless, just walk over them stuff them in a locker lmao Libs masquerading as trots otoh…

Leon Trotsky? Annoying as fuck, yes. Unwitting saboteur, yes. A bonafide Communist hero of the Russian revolution and a great man, i’ll argue yes.

they think peasants are inherently reactionary, and take a 'only the working class can make a revolution' class essentialist route. For example, many of them disclaim the Chinese revolution as corrupted by peasant reaction and thus a 'd word workers state' because national liberation struggles are of little importance to them.

I mean idk what counts as a "real Trot" but SWP (USA) has foreign policy positions indistinguishable from the state dept due to the contrarianism.

They sent reporters to the Ukraine to do pro-Maidan coverage ten years ago.

They're also a cult who tried to get a younger family member of mine (who grew up impoverished in the projects) to drop out of university and salt grocery stores and tried to get a friend of mine who was recovering from a major life threatening surgery to go to an event that was like an 8 hour car ride away. They were extremely aggressive about that second one also.

I will always hate the SWP. Fuck their shitty newspaper "The Militant" too. Ukronazi boosting sectarian shitheads.

Unwitting?!?! He lead an opposition bloc that caused tremendous problems for the USSR and, though he got turned down, he enthusiastically tried to collaborate with the fucking HUAC just to have a platform to attack "Stalinism"

He wasn't great, he was a petty, petty man whose significance is wildly overblown by the tragicomic hagiographies by Orwell and the rest of the compatible left.

once i started to get a political education and started to read about trotskyist bs -- ah christ, thats what it is, freaking trots

i will hate trotsky till my dying breath man was a flip flopping little debate pervert whos best job was organizing an army and then ruined that achievement by trying to be a counterrevolutionary bastard.

lmao just sitting and waiting for them to say 'stalinism' 'state capitalism' and 'removedd workers state' thats all i need

edit: i said the 'degen-' word thats what was removed

Yeah I get why the dude on a personal level was salty and wanted to craft an alternative to ML out of spite.

But as a functional form of leftism, the constant rolling revolution idea is so massively unworkable I don’t get why anyone takes it seriously after the fact.

one reason is that they were originally propped up by capitalists to destabilize the communist movement

another is that they just lie about soviet history

like for examplethey literally lie about lenin having the position of 'permanent revolution' (and then change its meaning) and then change the meaning of 'socialism in one country' (it was not a discarding of the Internationale, but saying that socialism can be built in the soviet union without being assisted by wealthier countries)

Source: Lenin's "on the two lines of the revolution"

Counterpoint: There are absolutely good trotskyist individuals and groups. Trotsky himself is a shithead and I will shake off the rust on the part of my brain with Trotsky Lore if I really need to.

trot to neocon pipeline is a funny and strangely common occurrence

for example, Irving Kristol, Seymour Lipset, David Wurmser, and many other titans and founders of neo conservativism were former trotskyists

happened a lot last century with trots who went to the US and their whole deal was hating the USSR. in that context it kinda makes sense I think with the kind of friends they might make there.

Trots tend towards western chauvinism because they believe socialism can only emerge at the most developed nexuses of capitalism, i.e. Europe and North America

This leads straight to a horrifically mistaken belief that if these "developed nexuses" spread their control over the whole globe then socialism will emerge globally too....somehow

This leaves them wide open to white supremacist narratives and co-option by every elite western institution in existence

"Maoist" is a label that has a wild level of variety in who signs on to it. Austin Red Guard, Black Hammer, Shining Path, etc. But there are also great Maoist groups, like those in India.

Yeah, please, give me your fucking newspaper in 2024 re-litigating shit from over 80 years ago and telling me about how all nominally socialist states are deg*nerated workers states. I'm begging you, tell me Ukraine is resisting imperialism, I'm almost there!
