I wish superhero movies would just go away, like how whitewashed Westerns went away after Blazing Saddles.

excuse you, but kevin hart is no substitute for cleavon little, i dont care how short he is.

cleavon little wasnt even short, it was just a name.

          unacceptable

edit: legit probably gonna watch this later though

I never really bought the narrative that Blazing Saddles killed Western flicks, it was already a played out genre that had mostly moved to lower budget TV production.

Spaghetti Westerns would likely still work decently, what people grew tired of was the hokeyness of western movies. The remakes of 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit are practically a spaghetti westerns and Django Unchained is a remake (or more of an homage I guess) of a spaghetti western.

It's true that all media has ideology, but on the other hand, trying to dig out any artistic meaning or greater message out of those movies is like trying to force blood out of stone

The issue is that since all the messages and meaning are repetitions of the current hegemony, they seem invisible

It's propaganda for billionaires. Only a few people in Marvel actually get to be people, the rest are relegated to background noise and unimportant collateral damage. These few people are unequivocally good, despite said collateral damage, because they always have good intentions. I mean shit, several superheroes' (batman, iron man) only real superpower is being rich. The Elon Musk/Tony Stark comparisons dumbasses make are no accident.

Also they're super pro-military, Brie Larson literally says in an interview that Captain Marvel's real superpower is being in the air force lmao

The real struggle question is can you be a leftist AND like superhero movies?

i don't think that's a victim of communisn cause guardians of the galaxy is when i tapped out of kinda liking these things. seeing this movie with so many wonderful creative ideas just get crushed under this horrible marvel movie formula and end up so thoroughly mediocre was super disappointing.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a good movie though, especially the ending is really good and really moving

Hot take: I love comic books and watch most super hero movies. Give me the slop.

The problem isn't marvel its that movies are a failed artwork which suck in general. Real commies read book or listion to music, Che Guevara told me this while I was kneeling by his deathbed as he died of turbinal throat cancer

I thought part of the reason for Bruce Wayne was to be a selfish, arrogant rich dude that only looks out for himself. No one would ever think someone that shitty would be batman, which is the point. If Bruce started trying to be some savior of the people, it would make him more likely to be targeted as someone who might be Batman
